White House Internship

yes. pages and pages and pages.

Has anyone else not received any other notification besides the still processing your application email? Is it bad if this is all the info and contact we have received?

Is it safe to assume that everyone will get a clearance? How long does it take to get one? Does anyone already have one? When you interviewed or received the email did they say that you would need a clearance? What offices require one?

Although I would really like to do this, I will not be of age during any of my high school years. Is there a similar program that younger students (rising juniors) could do? I’ve seen the Senate Page program, but the deadline for that has passed (missed it by a day!).

Do high school students have White School Internship opportunities?

You can apply in the spring of your senior year, but you have to do the internship the summer after graduation and you have to be 18 by the official start date of the internship program.

Think you meant to say White House Internship there PVmusicmom, or at least I really hope you did…

^^ Thanks. But there is age limit, not all seniors are age 18.

Today is the first day for Summer interns. Good luck my children! :D

P.S. Keep cool. DC humidity is NOTHING to play with. Enjoy!

Good luck everyone.

Have any of the fall people received any new information? Has anyone been accepted yet?

Also, is the Spring 2013 session contingent upon the election? Does each President have a program?

Good luck everyone who made it in for the Fall cycle.

I had two interviews and filled out a departmental review two weeks ago, but haven’t heard anything else yet.

Does anyone know of someone who was given a departmental review and then turned down?

I was given a departmental review the beginning of May but have not heard back. I have heard it could take up to a month and it’s not guaranteed you will pass the review. Also, I know of someone who was accepted then, within weeks of starting, was told they had overhired and no longer needed him. Just all things to think about! Good luck to everyone applying.

Just found out that I am waitlisted for the Fall… womp.

Anyone been in this boat before or know someone who has?? I’m hesitant to believe that people will turn down offers, so at this point I’m starting to look at other options in case this doesn’t work out. I’ve heard that it can take months for people to get off the waitlist… :(

It’s definitely a good idea to look into other options, but I do know a few people who have gotten off the wait-list. You have to keep in mind that by the time the WH notifies people, a lot of applicants have written them off and accepted other offers (since they take so long!!), and, unfortunately, there are some people who can’t afford it, so they turn it down because of that.

On the bright side, you have heard before the spring 2013 deadline, so you can totally apply again! And you should! People do sometimes get it the second or third time around, especially if you got so far in the process this time around.

Chin up–the fact that you made it this far means that they WANT you, but they just don’t have the space. Go for it again, and in the mean time, look into other summer possibilities just in case. You’re clearly cut out for public service and great work, so embrace that!

Thanks for your kind words, amplifier842! I’m keeping my fingers crossed!

Good luck to everyone who hasn’t yet heard, and congrats to all who have been accepted!

what if all we have heard/received is the application still in review email?

@boston627 How did they notify you? By email?

Have they already sent out accpected applicants been notified? Have they already sent out accepctances?

Has anyone been accepted/rejected yet?

I just got the department review forms.

Nope haven’t heard anything besides departmental review … I thought that wait list applicants would come out after accepted applicants … Unless the first batch has already come out
