White House Internship

Hey guys, how prestigious is this internship?

Is this internship directed to a specific major or career outlook? or is it for anyone?

I’m a senior, but my sister is interested (sophomore)

Has anyone’s status on the white house website changed?

if anyone is looking for a roommate for the spring message me!

Is anyone else waitlisted without any interviews or even the knowledge of the department for which they’re being considered?

Does anyone have the link to the facebook group?

There’s a Facebook group for just spring interns?

@aznguy97 - This internship looks really good on a resume, if that’s what you’re asking. From what I’ve seen, it usually goes to well-connected applicants or students at elite schools, but you can pretty much apply as any major–you should be somewhat interested in politics, policy, or public outreach to have a better chance, though.

I’m afraid you won’t get much help on here because everyone seems really reluctant to talk about themselves and their credentials. I guess it makes sense, since no one would want an errant and identifiable post to screw up his or her chances, but still…

I’m a freshman and I’m interested in applying next spring, so I’ve been following this thread for a little while. Good luck!

@aznguy97 I think that this internship is not all about who you know! I really think that if you have good grades, show that you’re committed to public service and really apply yourself you’ll be fine! Good luck!

Fall 2014 WH Intern here. One room in a great place to live on Capitol Hill still available for Spring 2015. Contact me if interested for the landlord’s number.

I applied as well, for summer 2015 it says we should be getting back with answer the week of march 9 ughh im really nervous.

Wahoooo just applied summer 2015… good luck everybody

I have also applied for Summer 2015! Also applied for a handful of others. What’s everyone elses GPA looking like?

Hey- I applied too. My GPA is a 3.9. I’m a grad student though, not sure if that will make a difference. What’s everyone’s resumes looking like? Any volunteer/public service?

Heads up that internships have begun, at least for some departments.

(lol I can’t believe I’m using this account)

*interviews, obviously

Wow, how did you find this out?

Anyone have an interview yet?

Whoops, sorry for not replying. I had three with two different offices (one of which I didn’t apply for?) but no forms or anything yet. All very congenial and enjoyable - no random hardballs.

Anyone getting the DR forms mentioned in earlier cycles? Also, can any previous interns speak to what level of security clearance is required? Though I guess it probably varies by office…

One interview with one department. Nice questions. No DR forms yet.
The background check can be long. you fill out a sf85

As far as the type of clearance… If you are asked to fill out a SF85p then it would be a “public trust”. A SF86 would be something higher but I wouldn’t guess more than “secret”. Just a guess.

Did anyone have a department call references after an interview?
