White House Internship

For those currently having interviews, when did you complete the application? If I turned it in during the last 24 hours, should I still be worried if I haven’t received an interview? AKA do you think timing could have something to do with it?

From past conversations it looks like different department do interviews first and then ask for paperwork and others do paperwork first and then phone interviews. Out of the 6000+ people that apply getting an interview or asking to fill out paper is a good sign but doesn’t mean that you are golden. I know that people don’t want to hear this but there seems to be no real method to the madness. The only thing all of us can do is sit tight, hope, and wait.
@Bootstrapping1 I haven’t had anyone call mine yet.
@climbergirl14 I don’t think it means anything. Paperwork goes to one department (HR) and your interview comes from another department (whichever is interviewing you).
Hope this helps a little.

Application for Summer 2015? Wasn’t the application due January 11th?

@bootstrapping1 I hope she is talking about the DR application. (DR - Department Review?). If not then yes, applications for summer 2015 were due in January. If the application is for the Fall then it will be months before they get to those.

@wolfgang1025 Yeah she must mean DR application. And I like that you point to the lack of method to this madness. Sometimes it can feel consoling to check in on these public forums, but there is ultimately nothing we can do.

Also how do you know that 6,000 apply? That’s more than I thought.

That was a number I read somewhere online… so take it with a grain of salt.

@ClimberGirl14 I was one of those who tried to turn in my app in the last 10 minutes when the site went down, so interviews are definitely not dependent upon submission time. I really think it’s just a matter of which departments have time to manage intern interviews. Probably as private citizens we should be glad if interns are not the priority

^^ If I don’t get an interview from Barack himself I will be extremely disappointed!

I’d settle for Joe, but I’m holding out for Barry too.

Has anyone received any documents to fill out after their interview yet?

I have not.

What departments have those who received interviews been contacted by?

If I have not been contacted for any interviews yet at this point, does that mean that I’m effectively out of the race??

I was reading through some of the older threads and it appears that it’s impossible to parse out the hiring process for different departments. We still have three weeks till they begin notifying people, so I would imagine that you still could receive an interview.

There doesn’t seem to be as much chatter on this site about the WHIP than in past years. Anyone have any new news? Nothing on my side. My guess is that there are still going over applications.

Yeah @BootStrapping1‌, but I had wanted to talk to some others who had also applied because it’s been hard to find a WH Summer thread.

Are those of you who have received interviews allowed to state which department(s) contacted you?

I think some of the hesitation applicants might have before they post here on this forum is that the whole process is such a black box, we aren’t even sure what information is kosher to share and what should be kept private. I’ve interviewed with an office but would rather not say which one because I’m not sure how many interviews they have offered.

So people have already been interviewed for this application cycle? That’s two weeks before the notification date…
Do they contact you via email first to set up an interview?
