We’re in the process of redoing a family room (replacing floor because of a flood) and painting the walls. I’m looking for a warm white color (Benjamin Moore?). Any recommendations?
We used SW White Hyacinth color on our trim when we painted the house. I’d use it indoors in a heartbeat. It is actually whiter than the color in the link as it appears on my screen.
ETA: IMO, this color went really well with our aqua color used on the siding and our brown metal roof.
Some of our trim is BM White Dove (or Dove White). I think Chantilly White is their white-white (which is our ceiling color in much of our house) and Dove is softer.
I found this website really helpful when choosing colors for our house - including the wall/trim colors for our main areas.

Like @BunsenBurner said, our “whites” are warm but look “whiter” than what these samples show.
Maria Killam’s website has been such a blessing for me (and extended family) in terms of figuring out paint colors, including whites. If you’re doing an existing build (i.e. you already have hard finishes, furniture, etc), you will want to figure out the undertone of your existing finishes to help pick the right white. Here are two blog posts that might be helpful start points (and it’s easy to go down a rabbit hole while on her site):
Sugar Cookie is the main color in our house. It’s definitely warm.
Correct. Chantilly is BM’s whitest-white (LRV 90). I’ve gone with Simply White (LRV 89) which has a tad of (yellow) warmth, but is more White than Dove (LRV 83).
fwiw: big fan of BM.
We used this as our primary color. It really holds up well. We only use BM paint.
I worked for an interior designer who always used Alabaster White (Benjamin Moore 876) because she said it looked good with everything. I have it in my house and I love it, it looks good with Hawthorne Yellow, one of the Sage greens, and a lilac color in my house. It has a slightly pinkish cast if you have it side by side with a pure white, but it doesn’t look pink at all on a wall.
You might want to get the peel and stick samples or even better the little tester cans - that way you can see the color in your room and as the light changes.
I used BM Chantilly Lace, OC-65, which seems neutral, as well as BM Calm, OC-22. The Benjamin Moore site says that Calm has purple undertones but I do not see that. The light bulbs you use make a difference. We use mostly 2700 Kelvin and some 3000 Kelvin bulbs which give a warm light.
Samplize.com has full page paint color samples with post-it note type adhesive, so you can move them from wall to wall to check how both natural light and indoor lights affect the colors you try. I like using them instead of buying sample pots and painting on the walls.
my sister (upon designer’s advice) did her whole house with BM light pewter. she has white trim. It’s not gray; not tan. but light in color. I loved it!
Yes, it’s really important to see what a color looks like in a room. For the same designer we had picked out a really nice warm yellow that perfect went with the carpets and furniture in the room. When we painted the wall it was awful - the carpet and furniture looked fine, but the paint looked green. The light that came through the window reflected off old stone castle walls not the sky.
I really like BM Steam. It’s my new favorite.
If you are trying to decide, I highly recommend Samplize
My first floor is Navajo white, cream base, with white trim. Looks different in every room.
I bought the BM fan deck of whites. Then I ordered my favorites from Samplesize and taped them to walls so I could move them around.
I used Snow Leopard in my office, white with just a touch of gray. Brightened everything up. The trim is a light gray.
I’ve always been a big fan of BM Cloud white and have used it in 2 different houses. I’d describe it as a soft white as opposed to a crisp white. I agree with the suggestion to get some of the stick on sample sheets and try them out in the room before committing to one.
I think the moral of this story is that the # of whites our there is mind boggling! And confusing! A dark hole! We several on our walls with paint samples that my mind was spinning. I finally just had to pick one and go with it. Worked out totally fine!
We have China White as the trim in the primary BR and the paint color in the primary bathroom. Has a bit of a grey-ish tint.
Simply White is warmer. Definitely white, but also definitely not cold. We paired it with Dove White on the wood trim, which looks whiter.
We just did a major painting project, using various white shades in a few rooms, with only BM paints. I realize now that I was agonizing over white colors, haha.
BM White Dove is the classic warm white without being cream.
