Who else is tired of winter break?

I’m not even a full day into my break and I’m already bored. I miss my roommates and friends and hell I even miss my classes, at least they gave me something to do each day haha. I’m at my mom’s house which is super boring and I don’t own a car so it’s not easy for me to go places on a whim.

I’d like to skip to Christmas Eve, then to New Year’s Eve, then to next semester. Only thing I’m really looking forward to this break is I’m gonna ask this girl out on a date when she gets back in town.

Anyone else bored out of their minds?

There are times I get slightly bored…I have piano and clarinet to practice, but I can’t practice 12 hours a day…that only keeps me busy for 4-6ish hours a day, and then I have some concerts to go to and shopping and stuff, and a few other things but it doesn’t add up to the number of hours I’m used to doing stuff at school like all day long.

Currently I’m stuck in my apartment, all my friends are gone, and I have my last exam tomorrow…so I just want this all to be done.

But once I get home I’m sure I’ll be really bored. My lifestyle is dramatically different when I am at home rather than school, so I have to adjust to that. I’m also trying to quit smoking cigarettes over break, so that’s going to suck as well. Plus I don’t really have any friends at home because my family moved while I was in school, so I mainly just sit around.

I do get to see my sister though, which is rare, and then one of my best friends is coming to visit and we’re going to a rave for New Years, so that’s something to look forward to. I’m looking forward to going now, but I know there’ll be some inevitable boredom.

I am SO SICK of classes though, all they do is stress me out and I’ll be ridiculously happy to just be done with this semester.

^You still have an exam TOMORROW? I thought all colleges were done by the end of last week at the latest…wow that sucks. I was done with exams on the 8th…but we start school in mid-August I guess.

@Piano I hear ya. I was considering bringing my bass with me but eh, too much hassle. Also, some schools get out really late. I finished my last exam yesterday and my roommate had an exam today. Thankfully (well not really!) our break lasts until the 25th of January, I’m sure Rox’s school is similar.

@Rox oh god, I’m gonna try and quit too (I’m fairly certain that the girl I mentioned in the OP is not the type who’d appreciate kissing a smoker’s mouth). It’s gonna suck, especially since a few of my friends like to smoke. I also seem to have a different lifestyle at home vs. at school. I prefer the latter.

Yeah, I have to go back to school already for classes on January 4th.

I have almost a month off and don’t go back to school until 9 January. I’m actually fine with that though, I’ve gotten quite a bit done. More than anything though, I’m enjoying the chance to watch all the British miniseries on NetFlix that I’ve just been adding to my instant queue because I didn’t have the time to watch during the semester.

The only thing that really sucks about this break is that I got hooked on Downton Abbey and I have to wait until January for the second season to premiere in the US. Bummer.

i go back on 1/9.

How can you be bored of christmas break? did you trade souls with the grinch?

“How can you be bored of christmas break? did you trade souls with the grinch?”

THISx1000.

Dude. I hear you. I am bored out of my mind.

I’m making plans to go back a week and-a-half early.

Not yet anyways. I get to practice drawing all day without getting distracted by room mates and free from the stress of school! Its so hard to draw using naked models on the computer without anyone commenting!
I also get to catch up on some shows I’ve missed, and best of all eat some real HOME COOKED meals! Im also looking forward to hanging out with my friends and spending a cozy Christmas with the fam.

I’m not even off campus yet and I agree. I don’t know what I’m going to do all of break, except maybe go through the first half of my organic chem book and review for orgo 2. That and knitting.
Either way, I’m definetely going to get early move in

I don’t go back until Jan. 17 but I’m enjoying my break. The only class I liked last semester was creative writing (which worries me as a Biology major). I’m loving not having to share a room with anyone, having regular access to a car, sleeping in, eating real food, etc. The one thing that is annoying me off is having my house broken into (again) and being here when it happened. Ugh.

But it’s a trillion times better than last semester.

Wow your break only just started??? When do you go back?
Anyway, my break has actually been really fun. Though I lived by myself in an apartment on campus for it, I’ve been able to visit friends from other universities, been able to work out a lot and read a lot. I feel like I’ve been quite productive! But, I still can’t wait to start winter quarter. :P

Good luck OP! Let us know how things go with that girl!

“How can you be bored of christmas break? did you trade souls with the grinch?”

It’s really boring, that’s how. Today consisted of: waiting for my mom to pick me up like I’m still a god damn high schooler since I don’t have a car, going home, sitting around, returning some stuff at Crate & Barrel, buying some stuff at the hardware store, and now I’m here again. Lather rinse and repeat for about four weeks and that’s a typical winter break for me… I also hate summer vacation for similar reasons although hopefully next year I’ll be able to get a job.

I’m sure there are ways to make new friends this time of year.

If not there’s the gym.

If that’s not your thing there are books.

Or movies.
Or clubs/bars.
Or just hanging out.

It’s not “the most wonderful time of the year” for nothing!

@mrund3rd, nah not really any way to make new friends this time of year. I’ll probably start hitting the gym and also getting good recipes (I’m trying to cut down on how much food I order in/eat out next semester). But that ain’t gonna take much time out of my day :|

@Ladeeda most of my friends are too damn cheap to see movies. “Man I’m broke!” All while owning iPhones and brand new cars that they don’t even pay for lol. And I’m under 21 so I can’t really go to bars.

It’ll be the most wonderful time of the year once I graduate. A week or two of vacation is fine by me, four weeks is too much idle time for me.

I ALREADY missed school the day after I got home … I miss being somewhat busy. I miss eating with my friends every night for dinner. I miss going to random events on campus. I miss hanging out. I miss school. I like having something to do, somewhere to be, and have someone to be with.

I’m an only child so it’s always been lonely being home. All I have are books, the TV, and the computer to keep me company at home :’( Sooooo boring. I wake up late, sleep late, and repeat. My car doesn’t have insurance on it anymore so I can’t go anywhere. Some of my hometown friends are still at school. Some are busy with other plans. My close friends and I have issues with car availability so it’s hard trying to plan something with them. Ugh.

It’s only been 6 days since winter break started and I have to wait until January 23rd to go back. Wahhhh. I miss being around people and having something to do! :frowning: I feel the same way as you do. Blahh.

ugh quitting smoking is gonna be a pain, I’m already craving one like a madman and it’s only been 10 hours. I really don’t like being home for extended periods of time. I love my family, I just don’t like being home.
