I had heart issues with COVID and was in hospital. I also have memory issues 4 months later. I did fine with flu.

In the early days of the pandemic, we all thought Covid was some sort of surface-hopping ninja. We frantically wiped down groceries, washed our hands to the tune of āHappy Birthdayā and tried to turn doorknobs with our elbows.

I know of two people who had OCD before Covid and developed much severe cases of it during the pandemic. One was hospitalized for several months, and another couldnāt leave the house.

i know of a couple with young kids who split up because of the way oneās OCD spiraled during COVID

A short update on my Covid-induced sudden-onset rheumatoid arthritis:
after a zillion rounds of Prednisone which has already affected my bone density, my rheumatologist will prescribe methotrexate as soon as my current flare abates. Hereās hoping!

To my knowledge my husband and I still have never had Covid. I have not even had a cold since 2019. I am up to date on recommended Covid vaccinations but husband did not get one in the fall.
Our 19 year old has had it twice. First time at 17, and we had just driven 12 hours together, I had drank after her and we were at a family beach vacation. She was immediately quarantined in the basement and no one else got it. In the months After, she experienced difficulty breathing when dancing and needed an inhaler for about a year, also tingling in her limbs dizziness standing. She got it again last fall 2nd week of freshman year in college.
Our 16 year old got it for the first time last summer. He was symptomatic for 3 days and kept getting worse before we tested him. We did quarantine him but he had to share a bathroom with 2 others. Again no one else got sick. He had viral induced asthma as a young child as well as pneumonia at age 4 with a 4 day hospitalization. Covid did not affect his lungs at all. However he has caught so many viruses this year and missed 12 days of school and is exhausted all the time.
In both cases, as well as any other close exposure my husband and I have tested. Our kids are also up to date on Covid vaccinations. I have no explanation for why we havenāt gotten it. Or maybe we have and have had no symptoms. During lockdown we were hyper vigilant but since fall 2021 have been back at work, traveling, concerts etc.
It is a strange virus.

I could have said the same (not getting it) on January 3. January 4, I got it. I feel like Iāve been sick since then. COVID, bad respiratory illness, ear infection, perforated ear drum. Ugh. Iām making up for the five years of not being sick at all. Iām really tired of this. Iām still coughing (feels like allergies).

Every time I mention that I havenāt gotten it, I get extremely superstitious and āknock woodā fully expecting to get it the next day.

H and I have just recovered from 3rd cold in 5 months! Before that, COVID in July, after momās funeral. Before that, no infections 2020-7/2023.
We are still masking indoors except while eating/drinking.
Not sure if this merits its own thread . . . I am very interested but Iām not sure many others are (gift link)

Seems like COVID-19 test prices in the US have come down somewhat, but not as low as in the EU.
