Who here has not gotten COVID? Who has long COVID?

SIL, who is not in great shape to start with & has been handling the MIL care load, just got diagnosed with long Covid. She’s been having so many issues. I feel awful for her.

it sucks to have to narrow down my college list based on temperatures and how much walking i’ll have to do. currently visiting vanderbilt and i’m not sure i could do the april heat. i am now on a beta blocker which helps but my cardiologist is not planning to keep me on it long term.

i’m also thinking about requesting a roommate who also masks everywhere. it seems pointless to mask if i could come back to my room and get it from a more careless roommate. i really don’t want to know what COVID a second time would do to my body. maybe i could get a single? i’m behind the game on checking in with disability offices tbh. mostly thinking aloud, but if anyone has experience with issues like these, please feel free to chime in!

You may want to choose a campus that doesn’t require a lot of walking. I think that you should contact the disability office of schools that interest you.

Deleted.

I hope you can request a meeting and ask the Office for a single. Bring docmentation from a doctor. There will probably be a shared bathroom .

D1’s wedding is in 18 days and she just tested positive for Covid. I told her it’s better now than in 2 weeks!

She has a low grade fever, headache and body aches. Once she no longer has a fever she can go back to teaching her kindergarten classroom as long as she is masked.

Wishing her a speedy recovery! I’m hoping her fiancé and your family all stay healthy.

Please thank her for teaching our most precious learners. All teachers have my thanks and admiration, but those primary teachers are extra-special!

D1 was still testing positive yesterday, but feels great so she is back in the classroom this week wearing a mask until she gets 2 negative tests (per school policy).

A friend of mine has gotten Covid for at least the 4th time. I wonder if certain people are just more susceptible. Her H has only had it once. DH and I have had it once also. My only infection was two years ago almost.

I worry what the repercussions for her long term health will be. She has had all of her vaccines and recommended boosters.

I suspect there are certain people that are prone to it or just don’t respond to the vaccines.

Or get a weaker immune response from either infection or vaccination.

I’m not sure there’s even a consistent explanation of what long COVID even is. I’ve decided I have enough worries in my life to get worked up over this. I’ll just eat right and exercise.

My SIL chose not to worry about Covid. She now has what DOCTORS have diagnosed as long Covid, and she feels awful all the time. It’s very, very real. And it doesn’t discriminate against those who believe in it & those who don’t.

I recently got Covid. I didn’t have a fever, wasn’t very tired, just felt like a head cold. If I didn’t test I don’t think I would have known. It was a lot milder than the first time. I am completely up to date with the vaccine. I wonder if the vaccines helped or if the current strain is milder.

Could be a combination of the two.

Same. I’m vaxxed but I’ve had Covid twice, in early Oct. and in the past week. My second time was very mild. Low fever for a day or two. I tested positive on Sat. and negative today. It feels like a bad cold. The first time I had much higher and more persistent fever, lightheadedness, and gastro symptoms. Not this time. I do think the current strains are milder.

I was in the hospital last Nov. with COVID, only one month after the vaccine. What scares me is that they were unsure of how to treat me. Paxlovid caused heart arrythmias. Steroids and albuterol (bronchodilator) affected my heart, which was already affected by either Paxlovid or COVID or both. But I can never take steroids without problems, or albuterol for that matter.

So I am still masking. I had hoped my first case would be mild and I could finally relax. Heartening to read about these latest mild cases.

Hospital reporting is ending.

COVID-19 is low in wastewater and hospitalizations for now.

New FLiRT variants may be coming.

WHO recommended JN.1 as the target for fall vaccines. FDA to decide soon. But JN.1 may already have run its course. Novavax has already tested a JN.1 vaccine.

JN.1 + FLiRT mutation variants like KP.2 are rising:
