Who here has not gotten COVID? Who has long COVID?

We’re going to the Cape next week and then to England in late September so we got ours today.

What is the current office protocol you are hearing to return to the office after a positive covid test with symptoms? Does each office have their own or do they follow some other guidelines?

At my employer: Pretty much the same as it’s been since 2020. If you come to work sick, nobody will send you home. If you stay home less than 3 days but don’t go to a doctor, you can come back when you want. After the 3rd day, you’ll need a doctors note who will likely test for Covid. If it’s positive, they have to write you a note saying you can come back 5 days after your symptoms started. If you do a home test and it’s positive and you elect to tell work, you’ll have to go to a doctor to get the same note.

Thank you. It seems that it promotes not telling- doesn’t it?
Was there any guidance with masks after 5 days at work?

For awhile the official regs said that, but nobody ever would enforce it. Some of our top people (even in HR) wouldn’t wear masks and stay 6 feet apart before the vaccines were developed.

So while it’s a good practice, it didn’t happen in my workplace unless a person was being nice.

This is what I heard from one kid who works in financial services. Work from home was going to be discontinued across the board, but push back resulted in making it the individual department head’s choice. People still go to work sick, which can be concerning for their immunocompromised colleagues. No one is sent home.

The other kid’s workplace paid lip service to wearing masks, but not much else, which was widely ignored. There are apparently large number of Covid-deniers at that location, too.

I was so glad that H retired before the pandemic. Several of his former coworkers took early retirement partly due to concerns about the lack of precautions taken by others there.

There is more of a push now to come to the office, but working remotely is the norm if one has something contagious.

Mine should have been a gift link! Sorry if it wasn’t!

Got my booster yesterday

DH and I got our booster last night at 7. We both woke up with sore arms. That’s the first side effect we’ve had from any of the COVID shots. After working out at the gym, my arm felt fine.

This is our first Pfizer shot. So far, so good, though my arm hurts.

I was wondering how everyone was faring. I have a headache, sore arm and feel generally blechy. I got Moderna yesterday around 2:30. 5/6 of my shots were Moderna. The only shot I didn’t have side effects afterwards was Pfizer. But I also got covid that season, albeit it roughly 4 months later and probably just a coincidence. (Trying to make myself feel better about feeling Blechy)

Got Pfizer last night. At work today with no problems. Would have preferred Moderna, but took what was available since I have a major event coming up before Moderna is expected to be available here.

Note that Pfizer / Comirnaty doses contain a smaller amount of mRNA than Moderna / Spikevax doses.

Well, the last person I was with abroad Tuesday now has Covid. Hoping she caught it on the plane Tuesday. And I got my booster Thursday. I have a trip next week. I don’t know what any of it means.

My BFF is driving up from Texas (long drive!!). She was exposed to COVID earlier in the week. She’ll be here in about an hour. She has tested negative a couple of times, but I’m still nervous. I guess it’s always going to be like this?

Ugh. I’m still feeling crappy. I seem to recall this for my last several shots (not just covid). On ibuprofen I feel normal. As soon as it wears off, the headache/bodyaches come back. But in the shower, I noticed my armpit it swollen. Well this is new, though google says it’s normal, especially if it’s on the shot side, which this is. But I don’t need this mess messing with my psyche
