I am applying for computer science courses so my personal statement has several technical phrases that the average person would probably not know. Will my personal statement be read by someone in my respective area of study?
I know that at Edinburgh PSs are read by the admissions team and they make a decision. Rarely PSs are reviewed by the faculty. Except for Medicine.
Not true for Oxbridge, where you can be very sure that your interviewer- a tutor in your subject- will have read your personal statement.
Use your technical phrases. Just don’t get lost in jargon or try to show off.
It may depend on the university but in most competitive courses the faculty would have some input.

My daughter visited with faculty in her departments prior to admission at both Durham and St. Andrews and they had read her PS.
In almost every British university each academic department will have a faculty member with the administrative task of being ‘admissions tutor’ that year. That faculty member might read the personal statement. A friend who teaches in England only bothers to read for borderline candidates. If the grades are good, admit/interview. If they’re bad, decline.
