@free2rhyme: Ohhh okay I just got it - yeah I can imagine it causing minor problems, but I really don’t think it’s a HUGE deal. Not sending SAT scores entirely would be a problem, but a minor conversion situation shouldn’t really affect anything. If it prevented them from making a decision about you, I’m sure they would’ve called or emailed you about it. Plus it’s from freshman year so I highly doubt it makes a huge difference anyway!

Also @QwertyNerd and @kristinabrown: it’s totally fineee! I made a couple minor mistakes here and there in one of my other supplemental essays too, and I honestly don’t think it makes any difference at all! Imagine how many essays they must be reading - they’re not expecting perfection, and I’ve actually heard some people say that you should deliberately put a few small errors here and there so it seems like your own work and not like you paid someone else to write essays for you (which is apparently more commonplace these days!). So it’s only adding a more human element to your essays and you guys definitely do not have to worry about it! :)

@kristina, what do you mean by “acceptable”? I guess I understand why that would happen, because they can’t really judge your performance after getting different grades from different schools.

In no way to discourage you guys, maani and dancer, you guys have similar common app themes. I sort of did the same thing (fitting in based on being Asian and Canadian), but I focused more on the story than the personal statement.

i mean like if they were “up to penn standards”…i guess

Like maani said, I didn’t realize that this topic would be so popular for the essay until I started exploring CC. But can’t change it now, so guess we’ll just have to wait and see…

OHMYGODD I LOVE SIRI ON THE IPHONE…lol she is HILARIOUS

@aangel, yeah I thought that it would be okay, but you some schools are really picky like Drexel who just want to verify that my grades are real and not just converted incorrectly.

My grades have remained the same no matter which high school I attended. Perhaps, it’s the lack of leadership opportunities when you transfer schools that may cause the adcoms to have second thoughts. I tried my hardest last year and this year to become leaders in my ec’s, and I just hope whoever reads my application can tell I wasn’t just a serial joiner.

@kristina, haha, i don’t know if they are upto Penn standards, but they definitely had a downward trend.

those were not my intentions i am sorry i am sure it was a rumor…but it was when i talked to stephen Freidfeld but he said that if you are admittable you will get in but if you were a discussion table case you will get deferred BUT you have a very high chance of being accepted RD

@sweetcookie, how many leadership positions do you have out of all the stuff you do? I don’t have many either, but I think even if you have a few, they will still consider you seriously. That’s because considering you moved so many times, they will obviously be impressed that you were still able to maintain a strong dedication to the ECs.

@kristinabrown, no its fine, you didn’t increase the stress level on this thread any higher than it was already.

WHERE ARE YOU EMPAIGE? What was your bet for the number of pages by Friday?

i really dont think you guys have anything to worry about i SOULD NOT have said that 2 days before D-Day my mistake

Who’s Stephen Freidfeld?
I have a feeling I’m on the edge, and will be on the discussion table just cuz of the whole transferring school scenario. It’s okay though. Being deferred is better than nothing.

oh ok free2rhyme lol i was like damn why did i say that

As much as it’s possible for all of us to get into Penn, the image of me being able to say that I got into Penn seems too much like a dream for me to believe that it is indeed possible, however improbable.

@Kristina, you really don’t need to apologize, what’s done is done. Applications are sent, and whatever decisions come day after tomorrow, we will have to deal with it.

Do you guys know what’s the schrodinger’s cat problem?

Does it say that the decision whether the cat is dead or alive is made when you open the box?

I have 6/7-ish leadership roles. Many of them were ones I gained this year, because I worked my butt off in clubs last year.

6-7…oh my god. HOW?

@sweetcookie, you are not in the “iffy” pile. You have a ton of leadership positions. You are completely fine. What were you aiming for, 15?

And on the common app, it doesn’t ask you how long you have had leadership positions but how long you have been in the EC. So no worries.
