but, i called cornell admissions and they said that they prefer professor recommendations… so do you think it’s alright if i got one from my internship?

also, do you have to schedule interviews before october 1? since thats when the deadline is for the application

see, i’m not sure about that because i’m a Violet and NYU might have different preferences. but in my opinion, i feel a really strong internship rec is better than a so-so professor rec. but that’s me.

im applying for the hotel school? so i guess, my internship guy would know more about ‘hospitality’ (cause i call people on the phone?? idk …) more than my professor? im not sureee

Serend… I had 1 rec from my anthro prof (I’m ecol, pre-med)… & 1.5 page essay (hosp internship & prior CU visit.)
When meeting w/my Cornell advisor this summer, he laughed and said that he enjoyed reading an entire application in less than 15 minutes.
Remember, at CU, you will be in the presence of world famous academicians, so try to remain humble in your delivery.
I wish you all the best! Let me know how things progress. :)

Does anybody know what makes a strong recommendation letter? Some of the recommendations letters I have talk about my successes and accomplishments. However, I here that it should talk more about your personality since you would be repeating information. Does anybody have any tips or sources for writing a strong recommendation letter? Maybe even have a source to strong sample recommendation letters?

wow american pie, well I’ll tell you, I definitely would transfer in the spring - the only reason I won’t is because I have other schools I’d rather get into, and some of them don’t accept spring transfers, so I’ll just do them all at once for fall '10.

On the other hand…How’s Cornell’s Anthropology program???

Serend…I was accepted for Spring 10, as a GT (guaranteed transfer.) I had to take calc 1&2 & bio 1&2 this summer/fall and keep a GPA of 3.30 or higher…no grade lower than a B. My letter of GT acceptance was signed by my advisor, so I have kept up communication w/him during the summer. I send my admissions counselor my grades and discuss my courses, internships, etc. w/my advisor.
I didn’t use the common app. I chose the CU transfer app.
Again, good luck w/everything!!

just got back from cornell and i’m exhausted, but i had a lot of fun. i actually recognized a CCer and we talked for a while, so that was kind of cool.

molly, what do you mean you didnt use the common app? you have to, don’t you? everyone has to hand in both the common app and the CU supplement. and i have a meeting with paul in 2 weeks.

I must have lost my mind!!! I just reviewed my app… I did fill out common app & transf supp. Where is my ginko biloba??
Georgetown is the school that I applied to and filled out their application…no common app.
Sorry guys…& Solid!!!
If you’re on the campus in the Spring, and see a student wandering around, with a blank stare in her eyes, it will probably be me!! I just hope I remember my name by then!
Ironically…Are you meeting with Paul Fisher? I met w/him on my first visit in May. What a nice guy. I feel really good about your meeting. Let me know what happens…xo

But…my essays were very short. I started out lengthy, but kept making them shorter and shorter each time I re-read them.
Have a great weekend everyone!! :)
