Who's applying for Spring transfer 10'-Cornell?

oh snap. i thought it was oct 15 - nov 15, so that’s news to me as well.

better get a move on.

wait are you telling me that Cornell’s applications are due in october!!! holy ****! Why does dartmouth wait till march to get your app in?

march?!?! what?? that must be for Fall champ :] everyone else is talking about Spring 10 apps

OOOOHHHHHHH you guys are transferring mid-semester??? wow didn’t know you could do that! Do you think I could get into cornell with my stats?? I’d LOVE to :D

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/transfer-students/767390-can-cc-student-transfer-into-ucla-u-penn-dartmouth-berkeley-cornell.html

question. for my why transfer essays, i have pretty solid reasons, but i was wondering if i can talk about how i feel like i’m not really getting the whole college experience from my school because i commute and half of my school is full of commuters so there’s 1) lack of community, 2) i don’t feel like i’ve grown up in the full sense that everyone else does because they get to be away. opinions?

@ironicallyunsure - i think u can talk about how u feel about ur own school but i think it’s better to focus on how Cornell would be a good fit for u.

i just emailed cals office and they said that there would be no transfer day for CALS !! URGGG.

ohh and for the deadline, when should we submit our midterm in?? i know that we have to finish up the commonapp and the supplement by Oct 1 but i don’t know when we should turn out midterm in.

who’s applying for cals???

Off the ILR website:

Spring Semester Admission

* Transfer Common Application: well before November 1

 • Cornell University Transfer Supplement: November 1

yea…i think cals and ILR have a different time line then.

good luck with ur application !

just checked the Cornell general transfer admissions site and the deadline is October 1, with the filling period being from September 1 to October 1. Here is the timetable for admissions, [Cornell University Undergraduate Admissions Office - HOW TO APPLY](http://admissions.cornell.edu/apply/transfer/timetable.cfm)

Viola, Last year the app deadline was November 1 but they made it changed to an earlier date (dunno why). So maybe the ILR website hasn’t updated their information yet. Just to be sure, I would advice you to contact Ian and see if the deadline for you guys is still November 1. At least for CAS is on October 1 and I haven’t read anywhere else if there is any exception.

ziam, apparently u can send the midterm report as soon as possible but u have until November 1.

uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh what. i seriously might cry. i haven’t started yet because my summer classes just finished today (literally 2 hours ago). i also have to take a make up final the first week of classes that i need to study for. and i wanted to get my stuff in early! gahhhhhh. i guess i’ll plan to start saturday since i’ll be at cornell tomorrow and hopefully get super motivated. guess i have to start hounding profs for my recs! damn, i told the first one it’s not due til much later.

HOLY COW!!! I’ve gotta start applying like now then - why is Cornell so different? This is terrible terrible news lol

^^this if for admission in SPRING, starting classes in Ithaca in January 2010. Most selective colleges only allow FALL transfers, so applications are not due until the spring time for the following fall.

right, well this is a spring transfer thread so… we care about spring lol. they changed it, that’s why everyone’s freaking out. last year we had an extra month. the filing period starts when the semester starts! that’s why it’s so weird.

i hope it wont be hard getting teacher recommendations cause they need to send it in like right away! which leaves them almost no time to write them =x … i just emailed my two possible teachers … i hope they respond fast =/

what if one of them says no??? who else besides university professors can i ask

Hold up. Stop. Who here said that the admissions deadline is Oct. 1, and how did you find this information? The Spring admission deadline has ALWAYS been Nov. 1.

ALTHOUGH - if the deadline is a month earlier, it is possible that they want to get our decisions out before they do the ED applicants, which could be amazing, since we’d know early enough to be able to plan. Decisions USUALLY come out in mid-December, and people don’t know whether they need to bring all their stuff home for the break (if the get accepted) or leave it in the dorm. So I kind of hope that this is true.

Wait. The Common App does say 10/1 -

(Cornell Common App)

Application : Not Submitted Deadline: 10/01/2009
Supplement: Not Started Deadline: 10/01/2009

Someone should just send an e-mail to solve the confusion. I was filling out the common app the other day and noticed the October 1st date as well.

i checked the cornell website for verification. it does indeed say sept 1 - oct 1 (my birfday) is the filing period.

~wanders in from NYU transfer threads~

hi, hopeful Cornellians! i saw serendipity’s question and i want to help.

i had a recommendation from my internship coordinator. i worked in her non-profit for an entire summer. i picked her because she was able to speak to my skills and passions much better than any of my other Professors. i had one generic Professor rec and one amazing internship recommendation.

pick someone that can really say something about YOU, rather than a generic recommendation.

good luck, everyone! my boyfriend was a Cornellian and he looks back on his days on the hill fondly. go Big Red!
