Who's applying for Spring transfer 10'-Cornell?

chem killed my gpa. chem is more conceptual mixed with a lot of math. i had a really hard time with gen chem II even though i did decently in gen chem I. i had the same professor for both and he’s notorious for thinking that it’s his personal job to weed out the pre-meds. i haven’t taken physics, but if it’s not calc-based i heard it’s pretty much just memorization.

hockey game in an hour :)

uh they have mixed gender suites. why am i not living with andy is the real question i’d like to ask. actually his suitemate got super lucky. in the in-house lotto, he got #2 pick and i think he’s going to pull andy with him. blahhhh wish i was in so i could be like yoooo get me in on that so i could live with andle :(

they’re doing the housing lottery for fall already!? Aw…I hate that, I want to live with people I know/meet. I hope they give us a fair shot at picking.

Reading your essay now, East!

Gracias. I’ll be awaiting your response.

Hi everyone,

The two people that I know are applying to hotel ad. are Van Chowder and serendipityxp.

here’s serendipity’s stats:

hi guys,
Sorry :stuck_out_tongue: i was so busy today. I know more ppl at my college, but I rather have ppl that i often talk to in my facebook :P(that’s weird, i know) I find it a bit pointless to add every single person i meet and won’t talk in the next 3 months lol ;also, there are many ppl i talk to, but i just created a new facebook account. that is why I dont have many friends(for now! ).

People speak Spanish in Peru (and like 50 more lol but those are tribes somewhere in the jungle, but the one spoken for 98% of population is spanish). English… no way. In fact, in schools, some teachers don’t really teach you how to pronounce, so you can find people saying “sanks”, “danks” , tanks" instead of thanks :stuck_out_tongue: unless you go to an english academy where you’ll learn that “Th” can either sound like voiced or voiceless, interdental fricative. Passing an english course depends on how much grammar you know.

Spanish rocks! lol It is so hard to learn for english speakers. I read a few books that spanish classes use in my college, and all I can say is that I would have NEVER learned Spanish in that way, too many patterns and tables lol. In my school, we had 19 courses in all our high school years, and you dont choose what class you want. Eventhough we had spanish grammar in all our school years, there were still hard things in the last year. For example, the 5 types of past verbs X_x , Verbo Anterior being the one that i still have problems to figure out. I recommend reading " El Ingenioso Hidalgo Don Quijote de la Mancha" or simply " Don Quijote" It’s like Hamlet for english (important book). Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra (father of spanish, u know, shakespeare like guy for english :stuck_out_tongue: ) wrote it.
By the way, my mom family is italian; however, I never learned how to speak italian! (how silly is that?) :[ I plan to learn tho. Anyone can help? lol

Jemma, you are right. It depends on many things. hiatos can be a pain in the ass with the exceptions lol, and our mute H’s :p. If you don’t put the “tilde” on the right vowel or don’t emphasize when you speak, you can confuse meanings and words. For example:
H

Lol. I don’t like Spanish. Frankly, because of some of those reasons. French isn’t much better.

So I take Japanese! XDD Well I’m learning basics from books. I’ll take a real class my junior year at Cornell.

East, I’ll give you a review tonight, I found it inspiring just off the collar. Gotta head to work until 10pm. If you see something on the eleven o’ clock news about a young man killed in his prime and an interview with a parent who said, ‘he had his whole life ahead of him, he was on his way to Cornell!’ then yeah, that’s my dead body lying in Target.

Its cool, dude. Feel free to take your time since there’s nothing I can do to change it now since its already been submitted. I just like vindication :)

And lmao @ the rest of your comment. Unfortunately, I no longer reside in NY, so I probably won’t hear about it unless you die of swine flu or something. BTW, has anybody bothered to get vaccinated for that?

my roommate had swine flu and i didnt get it from her. so i feel safe without vaccine

hey rolemodel, i think you actually have a better chance than me cause of your background in the hotel industry. and i know that the hotel school really likes that. :). i know a lot of people who have really high gpas but still didn’t get in. so good luck to you :)

i’m pretty sure the thing i was told was a virus that i had (…run on. whatever) was swine flu. ironically, the day i went to get my swine flu shot i started to feel sick so i couldn’t get it. i’m scheduled to go get it on black friday though, so i’d say get it. it can’t hurt.

cornell won last night  5-2. i wish i wasn’t going to syracuse tonight because they’re playing quinnipiac and they’re undefeated as of right now and i want to see the big red take them down and ruin their winning streak. butttttttt i promised my best friend i’d go see her, and i’d feel really guilty if i bailed for hockey.

i took french, spanish, and italian in high school. french is easily my favorite because i think it’s so pretty. i don’t really remember anything from spanish so acc, feel free to teach me and i’ll help you with italian  lol

Hi role model and serendipityxt,
I have also applied to transfer to the Hotel School for spring, my stats are,

college GPA: 3.39
SAT’s: 2100
essays: i thought they were good, but may have been too long
interview: thought it went fairly well
extracurriculars: cashier/sales associate at Michaels for 3 years, parking attendent for a semester, summer clerk for school dorms, Event Coordinator for academic services center (last three job positions are campus jobs), plus some more things from high school

I don’t think the Hotel school will release decision until December, at least that’s what it said on their website…what do you guys think?

thanks ryan and emine :stuck_out_tongue: Luckly, you noticed the huge chunk that i wrote  :P

How come all you guys who applied to the hotel school are responding now? lol.

I really don’t know when they are going to release their decisions … I seriously thought we were suppose to get them like this past week when everyone else who applied did. It made me so nervous!! But now that you mention it I do recall reading that somewhere, so =x. Blah. I’ll just … get it when I get it …

i really hope i find out soon…my application has been sent for review more than a month ago!

yeah same … what school do you go to?

I’m currently a sophomore at UC Berkeley…Berkeley is a good school but the hotel school is seems much more focused and personal with great networking opportunities…

it’s also because i’m in california that i would like to find out soon whether i got accepted or not so that i can make arrangements.
