I never realized that The war of The Worlds was allegorical to Columbus’s second entry into the Caribbean. And this is the guy that Congress named a national holiday after?

Its sad that the American educational system makes such an effort to lionize undeserving Europeans whilst creating an emphasis on eurocentricism.

well im not a super optimistic guy at all, but i try to make the best of my life as possible. being rejected by cornell is not the end of the world. i applied to other similar tier schools

east that’s quite insightful of you. I didn’t know that either. Well we know who to count on for our random facts of the day/moments that make you ‘huh!’ guy when we get to Ithaca, haha. Make no mistake I find that a good attribute.

Good luck, valv! I’m as curious as Molly, what school(s)?

Thanks. I bought over 20 books within the last month and I’m in the process of reading a couple of them now. Obscure facts like those tend to just pop up randomly as one reads. Right now, I’m focused on history. I’ll move on to religion and evolution after I’m done with this stuff.

I think I’d enjoy being ‘that guy’

Just read ironic’s post. I like cash cab :). I usually know most of the answers, but I always feared that if I got on the show, they’d crank up the difficulty and start asking really esoteric questions.

ps molly your thanksgiving sounds like so much fun. i don’t have any family in the US except for 2 cousins. it’s going to be just me, mommy, the twins (my brothers), and andy tomorrow. andy and mother will probably share a bottle of wine lol cute future mother-in-law and son-in-law bonding
does anyone know what the e-mail address for the housing person is? i know some of you said you e-mailed and got a response really fast; i e-mailed a generic e-mail address and nothing happened and i need to know something pretty fast.

sidenote: all of the spring '10 ladies are beautiful
and the guys aren’t so bad :-P

accmajor dlfndjwlsek. this means your dreams will come true. :)

I have a question.

Should i call Cornell and ask them to review my application even though i dont have my TOEFL SCORE? because i have been studying in english country for 5 years, and complited 3 college level English courses.

I really want to go to cornell…i can not even sleep…:"(

I’m not sure if they’ll accept your request, but it certainly couldn’t hurt at this point. You have nothing to lose so just go ahead and do it when you get a chance.

okay, i uhhh have yet to send in my deposit and it was due 10 days ago i guess? but i thought i had till 10 days after i received my financial aid?

ehhh i dont wanna blow 400 and then not even be able to go

i thought it was due 10 days after receiving your acceptance? i don’t know how that works but call and find out because i would be really upset if you weren’t there :(

does anyone know the answer to my question about the housing e-mail?

and east i know exactly what you mean. it’s like just for me, they’d make the questions super hard lol i think i’ve played all the online quizzes from cash cab… hmm maybe i should start practicing again one of my friends was on college jeopardy last year. i’d definitely want him to be with me lol

Ouch, bitter about the college edition huh? Well I thought it was cool anyway. He got 10 hrand just for competing so can’t really go wrong with that

Oo east you must be a genius then because I had a hard time with them lol but word, you should try out for next years! You get $10000 for just competing and if you win you get even more so it couldn’t hurt. Plus you’d get to represent cornell on national television
