i think i’m going to rush, but honestly, i’ve heard that most sisters don’t stay in touch after they leave college anyway. plus i don’t doubt that i’ll make friends (not trying to be cocky, but everyone there is nice and willing to hang out, so i’m sure i will, plus i know people there already) and there’s always stuff to do at night. and lacey, i’m your friend! you wouldn’t be alone anyway cause i’m there!

I’m a Delta Phi Epsilon sister. They had a house on campus, but, they are suspended for a couple of years!! I’ll probably pledge another sorority. It can be fun, but, just remember, it’s just a game. If your feelings are easily hurt, don’t pledge a sorority. They can be brutal!!!

I wanna rush…but my parents hate the idea. Well, my dad didn’t give an opinion, but my mom was like NO. They don’t want me to be too distracted…sigh. Idk. I’ll figure it out when I get there.

I mean I guess I can go through the rush process (as long as the frats don’t ask me to cough up dues as a pledgee, because I don’t think I’ll have $2,000 to spare off the bat.)

P.S. I just got a friend request from a random girl on a motorbike. She has one other friend, is three years older than me, has the same birthday (…is that why she requested me?), and is from Illinois…this is awkward. Oh, she’s a lesbian too. Neat…

Ehh the only point I see in joining a sorority/frat is the social scene, but you can still go to parties without being a brother/sister so I don’t know. I’ll have to see when I get there.

But that’s my point: most brothers/sisters don’t stay in contact after graduation, so I’d rather make my own friends separately. To each his own. Maybe I’ll look into the more networking-type houses.

Nj is only about 2 - 2 1/2 hours away… But yeah that’s super rough. For the band I assume? Don’t let your coursework suffer. Andy averages 500 pages+ a week plus tons of essays and assignments

I’m in NJ and live 5.5 hrs from Cornell. Good thing abt Lacey’s bus is that my Aunt lives near the Rockaway Mall (NJ-drop off site.) Lacey and I could sit together on the way there. Ok…I’m late for my lab…
xoxo Have a great day everyone!

that’s very true. i just always thought LI was quite the drive. boo, well at least you have a bus buddy or if it ever actually works out, i pass the exit for the rockaway mall on my way up so i could just swing by and get you and then you don’t have to deal with the bus hehe.

is anyone going up to visit before move-in? i have to pick up andy since his finals end on dec 18 (his birthday, poor baby). i have finals on dec 16 and then not again until dec 21, so i’ll probably go the 17 and come home with him either the 18 or 19 so if anyone’s going to be there… let me know!

i’m super psyched for the next 6 weeks, minus finals. things are going like this: dec 17 - 19 - cornell/baby comes home; dec 21 - jan 4 - orlando (disney world!!! yesss, my favorite place on earth. cornell is ranked just below that in my world hehe); jan 18 - move in to cornell!!! yay i’m so excited

Emine, enjoy Orlando, it is actually only 2 hours from my home. I prefer FL’s other parks (busch gardens and universal) to disney though because disney is usually way overcrowded with endless lines. Also, I was given a job offer for next semester yesterday (paid) for a credit internship, so I am definitely going to be away and really looking forward to it. Hate to say it, but ithaca in the winter is a miserable place to be (especially for a floridian).

and hermanns, are you anywhere near the cornell hockey games that will be taking place in florida? i think andy and i are going to go to at least one and possibly the other, but it depends. and we’re also going to universal/islands of adventure. sadly, andy doesn’t like seaworld so maybe i’ll go scuba diving in epcot and get my fill of underwater pretties there. as for disney, i’m a huge disney freak. i’m a big baby we’ll probably spend most of our time there. we’re going to get married there hehe

I just looked up the hockey tournament you were referring to, and it looks like it is in SW florida. I am in north central (2 hrs north of orlando), so it is the completely opposite direction from orlando.
