Who's applying for Spring transfer 10'-Cornell?

ouch water, good luck. i went to my school today to give out thank you cards/gifts to the people who filled out forms for me and wrote my LORs. and i called a bunch of cornell offices to see about housing/notes/credit evaluations. oh cornell. you’d think since they have an ILR school they’d be more organized and offices would communicate with each other. it’s okay, i still love you <3

and ohh i’m jealous you have your netid. now you get to go on all the cornell-only webpages.

hehehe thanks for everyone checking out my band

TFN, we write everything on Tabit, then use Reason to manufacture electronic beats, then transfer the Reason files into Cubase where we track drums in Tom’s basement, then guitars and vocals. and if you’re wondering, we use Protools to quantize, edit, and trigger the drums and then import them back into Cubase.

Water, we have these two kids that track studio drums for us, and the piano player does all the Reason data.

<333 all of you for digging my voice too :] we write, produce, and record all of it ourselves

but in other news, still no word on housing at all.

Message from the self-service portal:

"Spring transfer applicants: Please note that spring transfer admissions decisions will not be available online and will be mailed to you by paper letter. "

So it’s definite now. Why is it that the early decision freshman applicants are notified online but we aren’t?

because they like them better…jerks.

Oh yeah, btw, those of you who have your NetIDs…I noticed I can log into the thingy to search and select classes. I haven’t actually attempted to click on any to add them yet though, have you guys? Like, does it let us register for them?

I don’t think you can add any until add/drop begins like the week before classes, because pre-enroll has long passed. Current students cannot modify our own schedules yet, so I highly doubt new transfers will be able to add classes right now, but you can certainly look at them and see how many open seats are still available, look up the professors, etc…

We’re not allowed to register until we get there. I’ve been having andy check classes for me lol. You can check the roster online if you want, it just won’t tell you if its closed out yet or whatever

Actually, I’m on a thingy that has little green dots that says ‘available’ or red ones that says closed. But yeah, i don’t think it let’s me sign up. I’m sure our advisors will squeeze us into the classes we need to get as well as maybe a few we want. =]

Time for me to make 5 different hypothetical schedules, ha.

STILL NO HOUSING. RAWR.

Ahhh I’m jealous I want my netid T_T

If all goes well, I hope to take bio and bio lab, stats, adolescence/youth, and human bonding. Btw I LOVE my major. Like so much. I want to take every single HD class offered

For ppl waiting for fin aid. I just called, and first, the lady that answered told me that decision should have been sent(snail mail) yesterday. Then, she asked me to wait and verify if it was actually sent or not (for my case). After that, she said it was not sent, but that it should be available online next week. so guys… just gotta wait. I’ll call on tuesdays for more news lol

Water what’s the link to the site to see the classes?

So I called ILR a couple of hours ago and they told me they would be finalizing decisions over the next couple weeks if they haven’t made it already. She also said she wouldn’t be able to tell me my admission status over the phone, that I’d have to wait for snail mail or an email. So I’m not sure if we will receive both an email and a letter or one or the other. Very confusing.

Wait, she said they’d be finalizing all of the decisions in the next few hours? Did she say when the e-mails would be released?

And yea, I called this morning as well and I got a new answer about them not being able to release decisions via the phone (which seriously calls into question why the people keep asking for names and makes me think that water’s joke may actually come true.)

I’ve seen your stats and you should have no problem getting in anyway.

Haha, no she said they’d be finalizing decisions over the next couple WEEKS! Honestly, I think its best just not to get stressed out over when we get the decision. I had far too much anxiety 2 years ago when applied out of high school. If I get into Cornell, great. If not, I won’t lose too much sleep.

If I DO get in though… Wow, I’d have a lot to think about

Yea, I’m not even worried about it anymore but I’d just like to know so I can begin making arrangements for next semester. As long as your essays are fine, I think you’ll be good.

I feel you, the deadline to withdraw from my university is like today… But honestly, my essays really weren’t the best thing I’ve ever written. I do write a weekly column for my student paper and have sent of few of them over to Ian hoping it would prove my writing effectiveness though, not sure if it helps any. But ya, even if I get in I honestly have no idea if I’m going. Chances are pretty good, but my situation here is a bit different now than it was 6 months ago.

OH MY GOD I JUST CALLeD AND THEY STILL HAVEN’T EVEN MADE A DECISION ON MY APPLICATION.

This is just absurd.

600 posts rawr

I’ve really grown out of my current school, so I seriously doubt that I’ll be here next semester. I’ve been accepted to another school, but it’s not exactly my top choice, so I’m still waiting on a decision from Emory and Cornell.

As far as my app is concerned, my essays were the only thing to make my otherwise prosaic application shine. I thought they were okay, but I’ve gotten great reviews about them and no complaints. I wasn’t aware that we could submit previous writing materials to Ian for his opinion. Even though he said to feel free to contact him about any questions, I feel like I’ve bothered him too much (I e-mailed him about 3 or 4 times after the interview), so I’ve just been contacting the admissions office for answers to my questions.

I don’t think they were actually used as admission material but in the interview he wanted to read some of them so I gave him a few. I’ve emailed him a few times as well for dates and stuff. I mean, I wouldn’t worry about it, I’m sure your essays were excellent. I basically was just real upfront about why I wanted to do ILR, I didn’t try to make it particularly poetic. I absolutely hate the college admission process, just way too stressful This may sound crazy to some of you but I almost hope I get rejected just so I won’t have to make a painful decision (that may be a gross exagerration).
