Who's applying for Spring transfer 10'-Cornell?

^–Financial aid packages are released in early December for everyone. I think I’m still sending the deposit this week, then my parents don’t expect much change in our package.

Yayy for housing lady! I remembered the trick with the clicking themed housing/West Campus. I picked single-single-single-quad(rofl) and west-west-west-blank for housing (since it gave me some weird error when i chose west for all 4).

No response yet…but I made this!

calpoly (CALS) Viticulture and Enology
Foshodub (CALS) Biological Sciences
accmajor (CALS) AEM
Avie (CALS) Biology and Society
gosnia (CALS) AEM (GT)
BrandNew (ILR) (GT)
Mollena (HumEc) (GT)
Wateradept (CALS) Communications

Dude, we’re 8/8. accmajor, you did get in already, right? haha, the way you’ve been posting I kind of lost track after thinking I saw that you had.

Looks like except for this Chad guy, all the GTs on CC are done. Let’s make numero nine before the end of this week, eh?

Very nice compilation, Water.
Also, I just met some guy named CJ in my grade at a drawing session, and wondered if this was the guy who you were talking about. unfortunately I don’t know your real name xD so I couldn’t go up to him and be like “Do you know who Wateradept on College Confidential is?” lol.

BLAHHHH RAHHH

He’d be a sophomore, haha, C.J. Hill is his name (he’d be from Saratoga).

You can have my name when you get in tomorrow. ^_^

I have a very good feeling about acceptances coming out this week. Keeping my fingers crossed for everyone! :-)

I’d also like to throw out that I was one day off of my November 15th prediction…and considering the 15th was a sunday, technically…lol.

I agree Molly, I feel some good vibes ;D

can you predict CAS decisionss ? :P

haha water that’s very true! wanna guess when humec decisions will be out? lol

Mm…sorry my crystal ball is all cloudy. Guess there’s only hope for CALS. :stuck_out_tongue: Jk hahaha.

I bet the by the week after Thanksgiving we’ll only be waiting on a few ILRies to hear. But Az and valv will hear before Saturday, thems mah predictions.

How about CAS? :-P

uh…how’s January work for you? XDD

Bad… :-(.

Naw, I know they won’t be that long. Everyone will know before December 10th, I’m completely sure.

Hey guys,
My wish to know soon came true, but I’m sorry I broke the trend =( rejected. Gotta say I’m not all THAT surprised given my art history (and so many other applicants have a history that shows that they’re really pursuing what they’re applying for). Buuut, I’m not giving up. Leaving RISD, taking classes to get all of my prereqs done at a community college with a transfer agreement with Cornell, and volunteering at an animal shelter. The fact I’ve taken such a crazy initiative will hopefully help me with Fall admissions, even though it’s more competitive.
Plan B ftw, now I can start writing 1000 essays, haha. Sigh.

oh yeah gotta call them and ask why when i’m calmer, how does one go about asking this

Omg, Az! I’m so sorry :frowning: But you’ll come back stronger  and they will definitely will take you. We are all here for you :)

Virtual Hug

Edit: Ask them what were u missing, what can you improve. Is good to know those kinds of stuff :)

Aww azu I’m sorry :frowning: hopefully you’ll be there in the fall. Keep in touch with us so when you visit the boyfriend you can meet up with us too!

Blahhh, been calling around (now I have to tell everyone the humiliating news). I’m not looking forward to calling admissions. What do I do, just call CALS transfer admissions and be like, “Why did you reject me?”

OH RIGHT, here’s what the letter said:
I am writing to let you know that the admissions selection committee has reviewed your application for admission for the spring semester 2010. I regret to have to let you know that we are unable to offer you admission to Cornell University.

Let me assure you that we gave your application a very careful review before making this difficult decision. Certainly your academic record, personal information, and supporting materials indicate that you have much to contribute to a college community. However, as the number of well-qualified and highly recommended applicants to the university has continued to increase, we have had to deny admission to many candidates who could no doubt take full advantage of a Cornell education.
I am sorry to have to share this very disappointing news with you. Please understand that the selection committees work ahrd to make the best admissions decisions possible given the nature of our increasingly large and competitive applicant pool.
I very much appreciate your interest in Cornell University and extend my best wishes to you for success during your collegiate years.

No! Azu!! I’m sorry, girl…it’s true, when it comes down to it, it was probably the whole art thing that was the set back. But it’s good to see you staying positive and thinking clearly, you have an excellent back-up plan that will no doubt land you ahead of the fall transfer group (especially at a CC in NY, which they LOVE to snag up. I’m pretty positive that if I had been at some SUNY instead of a CC, they wouldn’t have accepted me.)

And like you said, yours has an agreement, so you’d be doing the same as the other guy who got in from that college.

I’d say with the calling thing, do exactly what Jemma said, just call and see if you can speak to someone. But do it like, “Hi, I’m just calling to speak with an admissions counselor” then just tell them you received the rejection and ask what the biggest application flaws were/what you can improve on. If my memory serves correct, there are MULTIPLE types of rejection letters. Some are hammer n’ nail ‘uh…yeah like you had a chance’ and some are eloquently put like yours. With Animal Science, they obviously took kids with more of that background, so that’s an area (especially with pre-req classes, now that I think about it CALS harps on those) you can heal.

And it would be great if you visit next semester so we can brag to admissions about how superspecialawesome you are.

See if you can maybe get an internship or something chill like that when you’re home in two months! That would definitely help your app (and having applied once before helps, believe me/calpoly!)

azu that sucks :((, but keep your head up :]
andddd I totally know what you mean by not being able to stand another semester at your/my school…I might also have to go to CC if I don’t get in, but out of curiosity, what didn’t you like about your school?

Guys, thanks so much for your support. I’ve been emailing around as well. My current Brown U. chem professor said she’d be happy to write a rec letter for me. My previous Brown U. ecology professor said she would definitely once again write rec letters for me, and my guidance counselor from high school is also being extremely supportive and helping me out too. My parents said perhaps it’s better I attend a public school if I’m going to get a Ph.D. anyway. Always the silver lining. Going to call Cornell in a bit, then I have to dash off to class and explain to my teacher what happened.
RawSugar, I want to leave RISD because I can’t stand the school as well as the fact that I want to make a career change. RISD’s an art school. It’s tiny, there’s practically no student activities, and while I used to find art nice, I don’t think it’s a good career for me…I wouldn’t be personally satisfied because I’m not being challenged, and I’m getting bored of not using my brain. Financially it’s less stable of a career too; you either make it big or live the poor artist life. Also, I can’t stand my roommate. Lol.
