Who's applying for Spring transfer 10'-Cornell?

Azur… I am very sorry about the letter. Please reapply for the Fall. If you complete some pre-recs and a related intern/vol positions, you’ll be in.
Now, go & ace those CC courses and get ready to move to Cornell in August/Sept.
Check the CC site for Spring/summer courses and work out ur schedule. Keep up contact w/ur dept., so they can put a person/face to the app.
Ok…I’m sending you a BIG HUG…from NJ!
xo :)

I’m so sorry to hear that azu!! :frowning: I kind of know how you feel since I got rejected from NYUstern when I applied ED senior year :(. It’s a horrible feeling … but it’s okay cause you still have another shot!

I feel soooo sick to my stomach waiting for my decision :(…

Joining the club, Azu. Got the same letter today.

I don’t know what to do now. I really don’t like it here at RPI. Will send out more applications next semester, to some other schools I suppose. I really did not want to spend another semester here.

A giant hug from me too, Azu! Definitely cover all the pre-reqs (and take a summer course if you can’t fit them all in, that’s what I did with Bio II).

Agh! Not you too Stryke! Sorry man…but definitely reapply with the same mindset Azu is taking. If you don’t like RPI, just commute for a semester! Honestly, commuting for me has sucked omega, but that’s because I didn’t get to test trial real universities like you guys the first time around (and the classes I’ve taken are not interesting at all, except sciences). For everyone else, I’d imagine taking a semester back home would relieve a lot of pressure and give you a new perspective. Not to mention you could ace some courses, work to earn some money, have all the benefits of chilling at home while also greatly improving your chance of getting into Cornell (especially by including how RPI didn’t work out in your essays.)

Nooo…whats with the bad news…today…:frowning: CAS is already sending out decisions :S

Stryke, I’m so sorry…Cheer up you can re-apply to Cornell again for fall. :)

stryker :frowning: you have me worried now you had a 4.0 gpa and the same amount of extra curriculars as me D: did you apply any where else?

I don’t know if I’m more upset that I got rejected, or that I didn’t send applications elsewhere. It was definitely a dumb move on my part not sending other applications, especially since I can’t see myself here for another semester. This is going to be a tough day to get through.

I don’t know if I will re-apply to Cornell. This was my second time. I really saw myself as belonging there, but next semester I won’t be as strong as an applicant grades-wise. My grades this semester aren’t bad but I don’t see myself carrying a 4.0 into next semester.

Stryke, you and I are one and the same. I only applied to Cornell thinking that I would stay here (i mean, it’s a good school…) if I got rejected, only to realize when it was too late that I definitely could not stay.

Hugs all around =(. I have to get myself together and prepare for another round. Good luck to everyone else.

You had a 4.0 too? Err… Wait did you apply CAS? And don’t beat yourself up… It was spring, not that many good schools had admissions right now. Wait for fall.

And, hello everyone. Been awhile…

Applied to CAS Computer Science.
4.0 at RPI (top ~45 school?) fairly challenging courseload.
Decent ECs (community service, cultural, sports)
Amazing Recs
Great essays

I don’t know.

I’m going home after my class in half an hour. 4 hour drive but I can’t be here today.

That’s insane. 3.3’s getting in and 4.0’s getting rejected. I think CAS is just a totally ***** to get into. Good luck next semester

Signing off for the day.

Good luck to everyone else. I hope none of you have to go through this.

:( Agh … this is getting me depressed too … and worried. Don’t schools normally send out acceptances first??? Unless you live pretty far away…

i’m really worried/anxious nowwwwwwww/scared to check my mailboxx :((

serendepity, decision are sent on a rolling basis. Meaning as soon as they finish reviewing ur app and making a decision they will send the answer. :)

^–yeah, they dont’ send out one big batch of acceptances followed by a big batch of denials. Where’s the fun in that for them? (that came out weird…) Not to mention, by NOT getting an acceptance, you’d realize you’ve been rejected. That would suck.

Stryke, it’s definitely not worth your time to stay at RPI again if you know you hate it. Go back home, community colleges offer tons of courses that you can take. You can spend a semester relaxing and reshaping rather than stressing in a place with people you don’t like, a setting you distaste, or a major you don’t want to be in (or a major that risks you not doing well next semester.)

Trust me, if you commute for a few months and just reapply to 5-6 schools (hopefully Cornell included!) I guarantee you’ll find a place you like better.

I don’t blame you for not liking RPI…I ran track meets there all the time in winter track and I hated the school’s layout/I currently dislike the few people from my high school that go there.

@Riley: welcome back, and thanks for the congrats on FB the other day!

@new people: Not to be weird, but what are your guyses genders? Chad/RawSugar/serendipity/etc. for all the people that have just surfaced and are scheming the thread.

Wow! I never knew there was Cornell Transfer Thread going on!
Although, I am missing out on the application process with you guys, I guess I will cheer you guys or boost you guys’ morales =) Sorry to hear some of you guys hearing bad news =//

I am a ILRie deferred student for Fall 2009, coming in this Spring Term

-Applied from Rutgers with 3.7 GPA (just liberal/undecided with 33 credits)
-Good E.C.s ( marathons, intern at goldman sachs and congressman, tutor help at Rutgers, working at subway)
-Sent in 1790 SAT 1 scores, NO AP’s
-Basically fulfilled all the pre-reqs
-Solid/Risky essays, spent on them for 3 - 4 months, make sure you guys do your homework on the specific department. Make sure you touch upon the mission statements of Cornell and (ILR)
-*** ESSAYS **** so important!!

*** I know I am not a bright student, but its about passion and eagerness that I poured into essays and interviews that got me into Cornell. You must pour everything out about yourself in the essays - which takes 15 minutes for them to have an impression of you.
Theres no difference between 3.7 GPA or 4.0 GPA, its about how to stand yourself our from the crowd. I’ve seen so many 4.0 rejections… =//

IF YOU GUYS NEED ANY CORRECTION/ASSURANCE ON ESSAYS, PLEASE PM ME THROUGH!!
I WILL HELP YOU NAIL THEM! Besides, I have nothing else to do except doing some stats homework that I won’t even get credit from Cornell pshh…

Ugh. No offense, otafu, but I’m not liking all of our ILRies chances what with all these people having GTs and deferrals popping up. There’s gonna be like…two slots left after you guys get done being accepted. Nevertheless, welcome to our humble internet abode XDD

We’re currently 8-2 in acceptances/rejections. Still have a handful of CAS to hear, two (or more?) CALS students including my Communications-bro valvsu, and all the ILRies who didn’t have deferals or GTs. Oh yeah, and that one guy and one girl looking for the Hotel school to contact them back.

Given the fact that there were so many deferrals for ILR last semester, which I did not know of, I won’t be surprised if half of our group receives GTs for fall. It just comes down to who gets what…hm…

I also suggest you join us here :-D

Redirecting...;

I’m a female? does gender have something to do with admission :?

Naw, just perspective gender ratio for when we do get the final head count of who’s going and who isn’t. Plus, sometimes the overuse of internet smileys can make people think it’s a girl typing, when it isn’t.
