Jemma, Zii and everyone of my CC friends…I am very sad about ur rejections.
Please reapply, if you think Cornell is “the school.”
BIG HUGS for All!!! :)

theres already a cornell fall thread? gosh!

sorry ziam
best of luck for the fall; i’m glad to see you’re keeping your head up

the admissions process is basically this: names go into a hat, they pull one out, the end.
essays get put into a binder for when they have nothing to do and want something to read for fun.

well if i end up in UofR, I will still be close to you guys

haha ironically, im pretty sure thats how i got in. im convinced

sorry guys
i was almost completly sure we’d all get in. Hopefully, you’ll make it for fall. and yeah i believe they wanted something fun to read or whatever. Here in CC, i found more competitive ppl than somewhere else, and it’s ridiculous how they didn’t get in :/

Oh God…and to think, yesterday hit me like a rollercoaster, our group is down to the last 1/4th to hear back…I guess CALS was at the end of the bucket. (and apparently CAS was just like, PFT, we don’t like transfers.)

Guys, I’m really depressed by this. Here we were thinking we were stars in comparison to last spring (WHICH WE ALL ARE) and then we get this tidal wave.

Stryke, valvsu, ziiam, Azu, and jemma too if you consider reapplying, listen up!

DEFINITELY CALL or make an appointment (either by phone or meet-up) to find out how you guys can remedy your applications and better yourselves for fall. Think of all the kids that get rejected then DON’T do anything about it, or just send them some lame e-mail. First off, no matter what you say in an email, you’re not going to get a clear response back. You’d probably get an automatic response saying ‘competition was keen, you were good but they were better’ etc.

Second, it’ll put way more of a personal impression on the staff if you get to know some of them and put your name in their head. Ask questions, email often, check in on pre-requisite courses. Like Molly said, if you think Cornell is the place to be, don’t stop now!! I could have settled for Siena or a SUNY school, but I didn’t, reapplied, and got in again. I did this well by staying in constant contact with Cathy, showing her my interest, visiting 3 times in the last year and having a meeting about how my classes work at my CC in comparison to what I need to transfer, etc.

Show them you mean it, and it won’t matter that much that you haven’t put many new things down since the last time you applied (but trying to get some stuff in certainly won’t hurt either!)

As for those of you who were CAS, remember internal transferring is a HELL of a lot easier than getting into a competitive major right away. You could apply to a different school or another major that’s either similar to what you wanted or is another interest of yours, then swap over once you’re AT Cornell.

And as calpoly, myself and others have stated, make sure your essays sparkle with ‘Cornell is the only place I see myself’ even if that isn’t necessarily true, deep in your mind. You gotta want it (which I verily know all of you did do, but now you can even include the feelings of the rejection letter in your essay and how that’s made you a stronger student. I did the same thing with my essay this semester, putting in the emotions of having been accepted, then having to turn it down because of a stupid thing like money.)

And I’ll extend my Facebook as well, “Ryan Bresnahan”, I’d like it if everyone friended me especially if you didn’t get in, because there’s definitely Fall and you guys are of course welcome to visit ;D Especially Jemma, if she’s at Vassar, because that’s not far at all.

yeah, keep your head up guys. this is my second time applying after crying for days and days about my rejection. get your names out there. like i said before, i learned so much about myself and my love for cornell between applying for the fall and right now. you really get a better grasp of what you want out of the school and you learn to articulate that and make it clear in your next set of essays. it’s difficult, but you really grow from it and they’ll see your dedication :)

can i completely change the subject of this thread and ask what websites/blogs you guys check on a daily basis? i check cakewrecks, passive-aggressive notes, failblog, fmylife, peopleofwalmart (BIG lols), and this site every day.

Ryan, do you live in long island too , and what martial art do you practice?

so many of us are from long island… we should have a long island meet up haha

you know what’s most disappointing for me right now. The fact that I can’t go to school with you guys. You guys all seemed like nice people and I wanted to be friends for real. I wanted to go to Cornell from the beginning but Cornell attracted me the most till this time because I felt I was applying together with you guys. I would like to apply again but I will have 76 credits by the time I finish this semester. This was my first and last try I guess

Not true, valvsu! True…a whopping 16 credits wouldn’t transfer, but you can choose which classes you wanted and don’t want to transfer. But I feel the same way
I wanted the majority of us all to get in so we could go to school. That can still happen if you guys reapply, because I know you’ll be shoeins for August ;)

Well ironic, I love certain animes, so I watch those often online. I’m a huge tennis fan so I always visit the rankings websites to see how my favorite players are doing, I’m addicted to Facebook, TFLN occasionally, and the usual youtube and general interest forums.

@acc, thanks for friending me ^^ I don’t live on long island, I live upstate near Albany. And I practice an Indonesian form of karate.

aww valv
that’s my issue too if i have to apply again. after spring, i’ll have 90 credits even though i’m a sophomore. eeeeeeeeeeee so nervous.

cornell in 6 hours!

that’s nice ryan. I used to practice kendo, and then I just fell in love with soccer. However, I want to join the aikido club since I can handle shinais, bokkens, etc. but i wanna learn some “counters” specially against karate guys :P

i hear ya ironic, i have been taking classes to be a round person to transfer (social sciences, sciences, math, and stuff)…so i have many credits but they dont really relate to my graduation directly

yea and funny you guys are talking Japanese

Haha, I’ve learned quite a bit of self-defense, I accept the challenge XD

We don’t get to practice with weapons until Green belt level, though, due to changes at our school. No worries, I’m happy just practicing my katas and learning new moves!

Have fun in Ithaca, ironic!!

i barely know how to say baby, grandma , thanks, wait, sorry and count up to 10 in japanese :P

Sent you a facebook friend request, Water. Turns out I did see CJ at the drawing session, lol. Also you somehow know a friend of mine named Jon Ho, no idea how that happened. I have the weirdest mutual friends everywhere…small world…

ryan, we could practice" how to defend myself against a bokken" lol or just run

Haha, my best friend lives with Jon at Binghamton, don’t know how you know him
He was a really funny guy the weekend we stayed there. We both lost at poker on the same hand because my friend is ridiculous at it :/

As for C.J., he’s a’ight. Meh. Haha. I haven’t talked to him much since sophomore year of HS.

I love getting a friend request and seeing the mutual friends are ridiculous. "How…do they?..***?’ lol
