Lergnom: I agree with what you said about Lupita however her underlying words were good ones even if they came from a someone who didn’t actually walk the walk. Matthew McConaughey’s speech actually made me like him which heretofor I never did…but that he is sure of himself there seems no doubt. I like Ellen as a host better than any others and she was the reason I watched the show rather than wait until the next day to read about it online. I hated the dresses worn by Sally Field, Glen Close and Julia Roberts…loved the dresses of Sandra Bullock, Jennifer Lawrence, Amy Adams and Angelina Jolie who obviously learned a lot from…was it last year’s leg episode?

The leg dress was from 2012.
Her dress last night was much better.

I loved Lupitas dress, but I dont like to see your ribcage in the front.
Not real flattering. Of course I could just be jealous because even after my breast reduction, I would never have gotten away with that dress.

For the most part, the actresses didnt seem as thin as in years past. I realize the camera puts on lbs, so they probably are still tiny in person, but its nice to see them looking healthier.

But why the hell anyone would wear 4" spike heels voluntarily, is beyond me.

Not just that. She’s a favorite choice of female impersonators and knows and appreciates that. So Ellen’s comment wasn’t really a dig, just funny. I don’t think Liza minded a bit. She’s a tough cookie.

This isn’t Ridley’s first dispute over screenwriting credit. Last night I read (danged if remember where) that he was involved in a huge feud over the credit for Three Kings. He sounds like a pain to work with.

“I hated the dresses worn by Sally Field, Glen Close and Julia Roberts…loved the dresses of Sandra Bullock, Jennifer Lawrence, Amy Adams and Angelina Jolie who obviously learned a lot from…was it last year’s leg episode?”

Sally is 67. I thought her dress was appropriate for someone her age.

Imo, Angelina’s dress made her look dowdy and her boobs saggy. However, that doesn’t qualify her for worst dress list, imo, just the “meh” list.

No. I did get his point. I just think that it didn’t demonstrate a great deal of humility. I don’t really dislike him and have no problem with confident people. I guess I just think that if someone asks you who your hero is you might want to TRY to think of think of someone who isn’t, you know, YOU.

I liked Matthew McC more after his acceptance speech. He does clean up well, that’s for sure. I see where it could seem obnoxious that he’s his own hero, but I liked the concept behind it of striving for more. And I’m not very religious at all, but so what if he thanked God - that’s how he feels.

I was not a fan of Matthews hero concept either. Poor form.

What I got from his speech is not that he is currently his own hero, but that he thinks about what kind of man his future self will be, and in his present life, he tries to act in a way so as to become the type of person that his present self can be proud of.

^^^^^Ditto.

On Ellen’s show yesterday, she mentioned that people thought she’d insulted Liza, but that it wasn’t her intention at all, and that she saw her numerous times the rest of the evening at parties and she acted just fine. At the time of the joke, I thought Liza seemed miffed and thought “ouch.” But after I thought about it later, I wondered why, given that she and Cher are probably the top two women female impersonators love to go for.

Meet the Pizza Guy:

http://www.ellentv.com/2014/03/03/ellens-oscar-pizza-guy-gets-his-tip/

Wasn’t his “hero” himself in 10 years with some help from God? I liked it. And, I never liked him much at all before but certainly thought he was the clear and obvious winner.

I noticed that Cate Blanchett’s dress had large protruding sequins all over it–can you imagine having to sit on it?

^^^ thanks for the pizza guy info!

Matt’s ego issue is that he talked about himself at great length. He’s an engaging person. With an ego issue. And near shoe polish colored hair.

I doubt there was any shortage of ego issues in that room. Actually, I always thought of him as a dumb surfer. My opinion has gone up considerably. And, I didn’t really even notice the hair issue.

So for those of you who don’t watch Fashion Police, the the predictable winner was Cate Blanchett, followed by Kate Hudson, Charlize Theron and Camilla Alves, MM’s wife. The predictable loser was Anna Kendrick which I agree with as I hated that dress. Emma Watson was also a loser although I actually liked her dress very much. I know she is a red carpet favorite and there are big expectations for her but I thought she looked quite fine indeed. They also were pretty harsh on Pharell Williams and his Bermuda shorts tux… which might be appropriate for the Grammys or Golden Globes but not the Academy Awards.

Kate Hudson was one my favorites, too. I also thought Goldie looked great, but she is getting a lot of hate for not acting her age. I thought she was acting like Goldie and it’s fine.

I’ve been a Matt fan forever, and I was so happy for his win. I have kind of a love/hate with Cate Blanchett. I thought she acted a lot like her character in The Talented Mr. Ripley, very put on airs and name dropping. But happy she has won an Oscar if not for a tribute to past work that I loved her in. Hard to feel sympathy of a Cinderella story for someone who had the opportunity to attend Yale Drama School. Puh-lease. Can’t comment if the award was deserved because I didn’t see the movie. Want so very much to see Philomena and Nebraska. Absolutely loved Ellen hosting. Hope she becomes a regular.

The biggest loser in the 2014 Oscar was Travolta or maybe winner however you look at it. It seems there is a new verb “travoltaize” as in “Someone in CC just travoltaized my name and it’s now KillLilies.” 8-|

Aw, I think people are being too hard on Travolta. He may have practiced his line, and somehow that’s just what came out–it happens to many of us. If he’s a good sport about it, it won’t hurt him.
