Who's watching the Oscars?

Schmaltzy was what she was going for there. EK. It was the In Memoriam segment, lol. Achieved.

Now that lady (Idina Menzel) has a voice!!!

I think Ellen just said her name twice because John Travolta muffed it… maybe they just need bigger font on the teleprompter for all the boomers! But I am starting to wonder if some of them are just stoned…

What happened? Idina Menzel sounded a little off singing “Let It Go”.

OK… why did he not introduce her with her correct name??
Adele Dazim??

I used to like the song, but hearing Idina do it now did not endear it to me.

Although I should say I liked her dress/hair, etc. better on stage performing than I did on the red carpet. I thought she looked rather dreadful on the red carpet - didn’t like the dress at all.

John Travolta did look pretty good though IMO
He’s 60.

I think they all need glasses. It’s really bad. They cannot read the teleprompter. Of course, it’s just a name. How embarrassing. “The wickedly talented…blah, blah, blah.”

Wow… they could not read the card…

Schmaltzy ran roughshod over something that could have been touching.

*12 Years A Slave *screenplay winner…aside from the talent, LOVE the all black tux.

Cuaron is funny, maybe he should take over for Ellen.
I hope Chiwetel Ejiofor wins so I can learn how to pronounce his name.
I have been watching Firefly ( highly recommended), & Ejiofor was in the ( last) episode I saw today.

Not to sound like a broken record, but watch the special features of Gravity and you realize how not surprising this award is…(Best Director)

I thought Idina sounded really off too this evening - and Pink was fabulous. What a voice she has.

mmm… I thought Amy Adams was amazing in American Hustle, sorry she didn’t win…

Cate Blanchett’s husband is funny looking. I guess she didn’t marry him for his looks.

I did not see Blue Jasmine or August: Osage County, but people who I know who saw both really thought Meryl Streep had this one covered. I saw American Hustle - although I thought it was very well-made, it just wasn’t my kind of movie.

On a separate note, has anyone noticed they have not had to cut anyone short on their acceptance speeches? This may be a first!

Leo was robbed. I want a recount. :open_mouth:

So glad to see Matthew McConaughey win!

I noticed that, too. But people seem to be doing a good job of keeping them pretty short. I notice the group recipients seem to have coordinated their speeches better. One recipient said something about having 42 seconds left… so maybe THAT is the one thing big enough on the teleprompter that they can see it this year.
