Yes! But I gotta say that was an easy call. Leo, lol.

Random thoughts

Kristin Bell is absolutely beautiful.

I need to go see Philomenia. Judy Dench is such a great actor.

Sidney Poitier. Wow. Now He deserved a standing O.

Jennifer Garner seems like such a genuiney nice woman.

I wish I was friends with Will Smith

Ellen was okay. Had some good moments. But meh…

I would never have let my kid hang out with Pink in high school. After all it was obvious she would never amount to anything…

I love Pink

I thought McConaughy would win also, but its interesting that the award was given to the male actor who under went extreme physical challenges for a film, but not to the female (Bullock) actor.
I felt bad for her, she obviously was quite disappointed.

I think Cate Blanchett is a pretty amazing actress. She was the best Bob Dylan.

I cant believe the age of some of the presenters. Time goes so fast. Sidney Poitier is 90.

Blanchett was on 60 minutes a week or so ago. I wonder if 60 minutes had an inside scoop.

What extreme challenges did Sandra Bullock undergo? I didn’t see Gravity, but heard it was mostly a lot of pretty space scenery. So, best cinematography.

Edit to add - Blachett was the favorite, by far.

Matthew McConaughey and I share the same Alma Mater, so I can’t be unhappy about his win.

Now I need to go see the movie. :">

Me, too, Nrdsb4! Although I think my time there was just a little bit before McConaughey’s! But he was actually in the same school as I was, too.

Maybe you two know each other. :)

Yep, I knew all 45,000+ students that were there at the same time I was! And that was without the benefit of social media.

I think I graduated 9 or 10 years before Matthew. But he was on the sidelines when Vince Young ran in for the winning touchdown in the National Championship game vs. USC. He remains a big fan.

He was also in the same frat as DH (decade apart, different school).

Point being, we’re tight, really tight. I’m surprised he didn’t mention us in his acceptance speech. Probably an oversight borne of excitement of the moment.

Really wrong. And you haven’t even seen the movie to make that comment?

If you watch the movie, then watch the special features to see what she had to do to do this movie, you wouldn’t say that.

That was a question.

Actually, you asked a question, but then answered it with the statement, “So, best cinematography.” So it really wasn’t JUST a question. You went on to answer the question.

^^^^You haven’t even seen the movie, but are dismissing the praise she’s received based on something you “heard.” There’s no way to answer your question in a satisfactory manner until you’ve at least seen the movie. And to dismiss the achievements of this film by attributing it to “pretty space scenery” is really hardly worthy of comment. It took 4 years to make this film; if you educate yourself as to what it took to do this and still dismiss it, fine. But if you haven’t even seen it, well…

Geez, the question was about physical transformation. I had no idea Gravity fans were so sensitive.

And, perhaps the reason I mentioned what I heard is because I just heard it from someone watching the show right after it won Best Cinematography. But, again I didn’t see it and have no opinion dismissive or otherwise. I simply did not notice any physical actor changes and was curious. Wow.

Teriwtt, :). My wife went to the same school. 20,000+ people. Her major and my major had classes in the same building. I know we walked by each other. We never would have gone out with each other during those days. We were too different then. A few years later though… :)

This telecast seemed a little flat to me. I dont think my grown up kids watch the Oscars. I still dont understand how the honorary Oscars And the Humanitarian Oscar were not presented on tv. When we were kids, Carlie Chaplin, Paul Newman, Peter O’Toole, Groucho Marx and Cary Grant were given honorary Oscars on tv. Audrey Hepburn was given an honorary Oscar on tv. I saw Steve Martin’s speech. It was pretty good.

*What extreme challenges did Sandra Bullock undergo? *

Besides being by herself on screen for most of the movie, she also suffers from extreme fear of flying after surviving a plane crash.
Initially the plan was to film inside a jetliner, but instead they filmed her inside a 10’ x 14’ box for ten hrs a day, where her only connection to the director was through the headset.

An explanation. Thanks!

Flossy, I’m not a rabid fan. I just saw the movie the other night. Prior to that, I would have had NO opinion, much less an opinion based on what a friend said, and then made a conclusion based on said friend’s opinion.

I watched the movie, found it really intense and engrossing, then watched the special features and was even more impressed when I saw what it took to make that film-and it wasn’t just about technology. And if I watched all the other nominated films, and afterwards watched the features which describe the film making process of that particular film, I would probably have even more appreciation for them, which is why I haven’t dismissed any of the others out of hand without having even seen them.

I graduated in 1984. 48,000 students at that time. Though it didn’t seem that big, as you tend to find your “world” ( your major and the geographical and social area which applies to that major), so your personal experience doesn’t necessarily reflect that huge number.
