post your junior schedule below or your most challenging year with all the ***** you had to go through.
and rank the schedule above you from 1-10.

for example heres mine

class schedule:
ap bio
ap us
ap calc
ap micro
ap lang
ap physics c: mechanics

self study
ap enviro
ap psych
ap macro
ap comp sci

sat’s

sat ii phys
sat ii math
sat ii us

ec’s
manage 10 clubs as president
varsity football
volunteer work 2x a night
head procrasinator

let the fun begin!

I am about to finish up my junior year. This is what I had:

class schedule:
AP Calc AB (4/5)
AP Physics C Mechanics (3/4)
AP Chemistry (prob 3)
AP Psychology (prob 5)
Honors English 11
Spanish 3

ACT test (33)

ec’s
Varsity tennis (took up a lot of time)
Science Bowl team member (again, lots of time and dedication were put forth)
Science Olympiad Team (same. lol.)
Volunteer work at an elementary school
2 or 3 club memberships.

It sure stressed me out.

damn son, i love your location btw
in terms of phys c mechanics, what do you reccomend buying to learn the material by myself over the summer?
and ap psych is doable for self study with a barrons book?
good **** on science bowl team,
what i have trouble comprehending is how do you push yourself to always be awake?

Buy a textbook and PR. The textbook that my class used was Physics for Scientists and Engineers (Serway, Jewett) and I believe it was the 6th edition. It was a good book. There is more you need to do before you take the AP exam, and if that’s what you wanted to know, feel free to ask.
Psych is easily doable with a Barron’s book. I took the class, but it was simple. Nothing compared to Physics or Chemistry.

This year was hell for me, and I have had horrible anxiety and depression because I put too much on my plate. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. Just be careful what you sign up for. I got on average 5.5 hours of sleep a night, and it really messed me up.

idk man it seems so strange you know?
you prepare your whole life for your junior year cause its all supposed to be worth it.
but its crazy you know, when exactly does life get easier?
i mean think about it, you work your ass off in high school then if you get good enough at it you get to work your ass on college. then in a job, then you die.
hooray.
lets have a puckkking fiesta.

This might seem off topic, but life… is completely pointless. In the end, you die. Lol. Sometimes I wonder about this, but it complicates my brain so whatever.

You guys are soooooo crazy with all your stuff you’re doing. Seriously. Ok puggly’s is good. but seriously

bluedevil, how much sleep do yuou get a night with all thsoe clubs, the football, the volunteer, the AP homework AND you procrastinate(like me)

My year was bad. I had a question about self study. I have seen on this forum that people self study ap classes. I wanted to know would colleges count grades taken online. I would be taking ap classes. Which would be better? The uc system accepts the courses, however except the the ap sciences.
How would it look to colleges?
I am doing it to raise my gpa which is low.
Please help.

Wow,
ap bio- 6/10
ap us- 9/10
ap calc- 1/10
ap micro- 1/10
ap lang- 5/10
ap physics c: mechanics- 4/10

Overall I’d say it’s a 9.5/10 with your EC’s combined.

I know one kid in a nearby school who had:
AP Calc BC
AP US History
AP Biology
AP Physics B
AP Chemistry
AP English Language
AP Spanish Literature
AP Econ (1 semester micro / 1 sem macro)

He didn’t get any grade lower than an A (no A-), and got some A+ as well. His EC’s were speech, debate, robotics, MUN, math and science club, and JV Baseball. He self studied both Gov exams, Human Geography, Psychology, and Environmental Science.

My schedule was relatively tame.

“manage 10 clubs as president”

…

^im glad im not the only one who noticed that

haha.
this post has absolutely gone along to what i wanted it go along to. nobody should be talking about me anymore. the point is that you post your schedule. and the person who posts after you, ranks you.

wow, bluedevil…your schedule is really tough! I’d definitely give it a 10! good luck :)

here is my junior year schedule:
AP Chemistry
Spanish IV Honors
AP Psychology
AP Statistics
AP US History
AP English Language
AP Human Geography

I also have to take the SAT, ACT, and SAT II’s. I’m planning on taking the US History, Chemistry, and Literature subject tests.

good luck kid, i took stat this year and it killed me. i was so unprepared, especially cause im not naturally innate at math. so i would say deffinetly, go through the barrons book thoroughly for stat if your like me.
im prob gonna take human too and just read the barrons book the last week
spanish iv im taking too in class, and my teachers f’ing crazy so i have no idea how to prepare that. do you have any pointers for spanish?
ap us im just gonna read AMSCO over the summer.
for psych, is all we need a barrons book?
and chem well, your brave for doing that.

any idea on a prospective major yet?

@Haloisback

You have a few options. If you want to get into a good college, then raise your EC. If EC looks really good even if academics don’t, some colleges will still look upon that.

You can take online courses, which show a motivation to learn, which is always helpful. It’s best if you tkae online APs, then get a good grade on the exam.

Or you can self study APs and not have to worry about the course. This doesn’t look as impressive(although if you get 5, that still shows motivation) and can be hard to do if you’re not ready. But it saves a ton of time.

@ compscigeek, i agree with you.
also yeah, when i start thinking about life is pointless i want to just end it.
but yeah i mean whatever, its too much thinking to do at night.

@ bluedevil

Stat is hard? I heard it was the easiest math AP. I’m not a natural at math either…and yes, I bought the barrons book today! As for human, yeah I’m going to read the barrons too. But the teacher at my school is supposedly really good, and most of the people I know didn’t even need to use a prep book. So I’ll see about that next year I guess.

Spanish comes relatively easy to me because it’s my dad’s first language and he has helped me a lot. But it sucks that you don’t have a good teacher, because spanish is a subject that I think you really need a good teacher for. The only advice I can give to you is try to look on the internet for lessons and such. I do that for areas I need extra help in (like the subjunctive this year).

I’m reading AMSCO for US too. It’s pretty big though! And yes for psych I heard all you need to do to get a 5 is read the barrons book.

As for Chem, I’m kind of scared! I did very well in honors chem this year, but still…I heard AP chem is very difficult.

And yes, I do have a few ideas for my college major. Political science, english, comparative literature, and film studies are areas that I am very interested in. I will most likely double major in english and political science and take elective courses in the other two areas. What about you? You look very math/science oriented, based on your courses and your SAT II’s.

@newfavourite
when i look back at it now, yeah it was pretty easy. but i was underprepared, i took it too lightly. i got scared because it was my first ap course ever. idk, i just did it all wrong. i got a 5 on the exam, but a B in the class. so whatever.

for human, i would say deff self study if you can and take a different ap class in that slot cause then youd maxmize your potential if your up for that kind of stuff.

for math and science, im not really good at it. my family has just always pushed me towards it cause were all indian and engineers. i really do love english and history but i just dont feel it would make me any money in life. i do love politics but what exactly would you do with a degree in polisci?

Oh I see. Well I’m planning to study stat pretty intensely because math is not my best subject. I just completed pre-calculus, and it nearly killed me.

As for human, I’m taking that class because I’m actually really interested in geography. And plus I’ve heard the teacher is really awesome :)

My family has always pushed me to be a great writer, so we’re in completely different situations haha. And yeah english and history aren’t the most practical majors, but I really want to study them. Maybe I’ll get a graduate degree in something more useful (law/business). And if I got a degree in polysci, I would absolutely love to work as an analyst for the CIA. but that’s a long shot…haha.

why not? the guys who work for the CIA arent all from harvard. and yeah. the CIA has always been super-appealing to me too. but i feel like its all beaucratic ******** and it would drive me crazy, especially with the pay so low. and then law school would be crazy all over again so idk.
life is just so pointless.

true, very true. My dream school is actually Yale, so if I’m lucky enough to get in there my life would have some purpose haha. the CIA is one of my dreams, though.
