@mathela, dont get down on yourself dude. 3 aps is a lot. also ap lunch is harder than everything else.
catching all the pokemon, is a guarantee to the ivy league.

@bluedevils31, thanks dude. I definitely wish I took more AP courses, especially considering I didnt take any 9th or 10th grade, but hopefully the rest of my application is solid enough to get me into USC, Johns Hopkins NYU, or nearby Vassar College.

@mathela, no problem. i know what its like to walk around and then want to shoot yourself when you think your over-achieving, but theyre’s people who are over-over-over just ridiculous **** achieving. and those are some solid college choices, im sure you’ll get into JHU or NYU. usc is just beautiful and vassar is pretty nice too. you can really spin your athletics into a big factor and just try to tell colleges that although your not perfect you’ll work hard throughout and who knows what happens?

yeah exactly. My school offers a lot of APs but, for some reason, guidance counselors try to make everybody an average student and discourage kids from pursuing their ambitions. The most APs anybody in our school takes by end of junior year is only 6 despite the fact that we offer 15 AP courses because, for some reason, they pretty much want kids to heavily take APs during senior year where it doesn’t even matter for admissions! I’m glad I finally found somebody to understand where I’m coming from though! Nobody at my school seems to have any regrets about their schedule and my mother, who is beyond clueless about the admissions process, keeps celebrating my academic achievements as if I am some uniquely over-achieving student when, in reality, I am kicking myself for not stressing academics enough in my early years of HS.

yeah i know. like i mean sometimes its like i want to slow down but then you see other guys and you want to speed up. but its like, im not them you know? theres only so far you can push yourself till you crack. and i mean in the end everyone’s like oh you gotta keep going its only one more year, one more year. but its like **** it, maybe i want to enjoy my life and not worry all the god damn time about the future. like if you always live for the future, when exactly do we reap the rewards of now?

…high school is the times of our lives?my ass.

couldn’t agree more my man. and im surprised you knew about vassar assuming that you are in NC based on your username?

nope from jersey, i just liked duke because i was a frontrunner back in the third grade.
but whatever.

How does everyone self study so many AP’s?!!!

Everyone’s list makes me feel dumb.

I am aiming for 6 Ap’s though next year, but I don’t even know if I can pull it off.

AP Biology
AP US History
AP Spanish Lit
AP English Lit
AP Economy Macro/Micro
AP Environmental Science
Precalc/Trig

I don’t even have any volunteer work done, I dont know where to begin looking for volunteer work. I know my school has a volunteer club so maybe I’ll join that plus Chess, Model UN clubs and join Track/Cross country.

Also, does anyone think it would be a good Idea to start a club. I’m thinking if I start a rubiks/puzzle solving club it’ll help on an application

It would definitely help. But don’t do this just to help your application. Do it because you have a genuine interest that you want to share with your school.

everyone is able to self study so much because most of us will start now and continue to study heavily throughout the summer. it sucks, but you do what yovue gotta do.
and if your gonna start a club just for college, start something for charity or something more substantial such as a math league or something like tha.t

AP Physics C (Mech + E&M)

@tjhsstkid21

whats artificial intelligence?
and physics c: what do you recommend purchasing to self-study and learn material over the summer?
what did you buy for ap us?
also, did you use any wesbites to help study?

wait this is what im gonna do NEXT year… im a rising jr.

and AI is a course offered at my school. its a course for ppl who already took ap cs.
i think its trying to make computers as smart as possible. not so sure yet. we’ll see in a bit

Here we go…

AP Composition
AP Physics B
AP US History
AP Calc BC

Organic Chemistry (UHART)

It’s gonna be a fun year. :)

@tjhsstkid21

Dude, I wanna take AI, that sounds sooo cool

The thing is, bluedevils, APs are supposed to be if you enjoy the subject. People don’t get that(and I’ll admit, I ignore that fact too at times). If you dont enjoy the subject and hate doing the homework, then “don’t take it”

i think all of the materials are here
http://academics.tjhsst.edu/compsci/ai/index.html</a></p>

the language is in python.

and check this out for more stuff
[MIT OpenCourseWare | Electrical Engineering and Computer Science | 6.034 Artificial Intelligence, Fall 2006 | Home](http://ocw.mit.edu/courses/electrical-engineering-and-computer-science/6-034-artificial-intelligence-fall-2006/)

Python is kind of outdated tbh…

not really. python has remarkably easy syntax, and its pretty powerful for a advanced object oriented programming language.

u can do the labs in whatever language you want since ur not taking the course… just get em done :P

Looks cool, thanks for the info. I’ll definitely play with it more this summer
