Also makes me wonder, is the older sister wearing her own jacket, all zipped up, when she is trying to convince her younger siblings that they need to zip up their jackets? (I think it would be hard to convince them if she doesn’t have her own jacket on and zipped…)
I am of the instant reward opinion for a 6 year old. Sister shows up and the coat is zipped and the hood is up and the kid gets a piece of candy such as a hershey kiss. If not they do not. Not a bribe as they have a decision to make before the treat is offered. If they do not care then I would just keep telling myself that they are not going to die from this. period. I do not think a 6 year old cares about respecting the wishes of an adult unless they suffer from guilt. 8 year old do so maybe you will get respect then. Bet at 7 they get sassy and tell you to drop it.
Remember it is about of moving through the stages with them. As soon as you figure this out they will give you a brand new thing to worry/deal with…
It is, in the end, about you surviving as they will be just fine.
