Why are kids at Boarding School So Attractive?

From the view books to school visits, I have found that every kid I have seen that goes to boarding school is so gosh darn attractive!
Why is this so?

first of all, welcome!!!

im gonna be a freshman at choate next year, so i wouldnt know…i would love to lol
Again, Welcome!!

i think that they order models to do the view books…but i’m not really sure!

I don’ t know. Maybe its just one of those optical illusions…because the grass always looks greener on the other side.

They don’t order models for the view books…it is staged but it is regular kids from the school

Yup…viewbook/website pictures are just the regular students, almost always staged…(“Don’t move! Look natural! Smile! Just a couple more!”).

And trust me, not everyone who goes to boarding school is attractive.

Its quite a switch, I can only think of 3 maybe 4 overweight people at SPS.

As far as the view book pictures, at SPS they send out a random email to students asking them to come in and take pictures. When I say random I mean the students they select are random.

I actually kind of found the opposite when I revisited at Exeter.

Genetics…

Hahaha, ouch, I definitely am going Exeter, and definitely hope the criteria wasn’t unattractive when I applied.

Great topic, thanks for posting. When my mother and I looked at the website and brochure we also noticed how picture-perfect the students are. Mom laughed and said they looked very Greenwich. When I didn’t get it, Mom explained that Greentown is a land of trophy wives and trophy kids, lol. And to think Paris Hilton went to Cantebury and Ivanka Trump went to Choate. Imagine checking those cuties out during freshman orientation.

Are they really? I must confess, as dumb as it sounds, this was a real concern for me. When I think of boarding school students the image I get is of “nerdy” kids who only care about grades and don’t take care of their appearance. Having said that I realize just how ignorant it sounds. Maybe because at my public school most of the “smart” kids fit that “nerdy” image. That being said I go to a school where most kids strive for graduating highschool rather than college. I’m pretty sure most students who attend boarding school come from a nicer neighborhood so the academic bar is set higher for all kids. Basically what I’m trying to say is that I’m glad to hear that the people at boarding school are regular kids (popular, geeky, attractive, not so attractive etc…)

Boarding school kids set high bars for themselves in all areas of their lives, not just academics. Kids work hard at sports, socializing, and looking nice among other things. It’s not always genetics, but personality as well.

lmao! this question has popped up before. they definitely chose the people before they photograph

Exeter kids get esp. unattractive once you go to the lionlinks pictures :stuck_out_tongue: Hard to look good in those

Ivanka Trump graduated at the top of her Wharton class and shouldn’t be mentioned in the same breath as Paris the ho Hilton!

Think about the gene pools of the average prep school kid. Most are children of very successful people. Studies have shown that attractive people have a big edge in the world and are thus more likely to be successful. They also show that tall people have an edge, thus the super tall kids at top private schools.

Next let’s consider who successful men tend to marry. You guessed it, beautiful women!

Therefore we have this super breed of tall, attractive children inhabiting our better schools.

Both of my sons were home last evening and when I asked them this they reiterated what many have said…the view book is set up. Certain people are selected to be in the shots and suggestions for dress are made.

When they select you they do give you a guideline of what to wear. For me it was a solid polo with any kind of pants except jeans on the bottom. Now of course if they do this “random” email and the sender looks at the email list and sees it is comprised of all white kids, of course they are going to go through and add some kids from other races.

But I can assure the bulk of the kids are random, I have looked at the pictures in view books and they do not always pick the best looking kids in the school.

Are notions of attractiveness and beauty subjective in the 21st century or have we all become paralyzed by our analyses of gene pool metrics and unquantifiable data?

There I go again, scanning the pages of viewbooks through rose-colored lenses.

Who you calling paralyzed!?!
