<p>I don’t get it… there’s like a new incident reported every week! Why do Catholic priests lust after children? Are Catholic priests more likely to molest children than say leaders of other denominations?</p>
<p>If you’re a priest, it makes it easier to molest a kid because you’re trusted. </p>

<p>The priests are very trusted in a community and also they are under the light at the moment. Many others probably exist but we just don’t know about them yet.</p>
<p>The Catholic community takes a lot of heat for the mistakes of a few priests. There are plenty of other religious leaders/ leaders/ people who do it. You can’t limit the question just to priests.</p>

<p>While this is still not a reason, you need to take into account the fact that catholic priests must remain abstinent while the leaders of most other denominations are allowed to marry</p>

<p>I don’t trust the media in general. Maybe they’re biased toward Catholic priests or maybe Catholic priests are just the ones getting caught in scandals the media gets word of. I live in Jersey. The media is extremely liberal up here. The Democrats are always right and the Republicans are always wrong. The media has motives.</p>
<p>A couple of weeks ago, a priest was arrested for abuse of the parish system in my area. He served at my alma mater for a while, but I never saw him at the services.</p>

<p>Most priests are not. The ones that are are probably standard issue pedophiles whose only difference from the ones in the outside of a monastery is the added influence of seclusion and secrecy.</p>
<p>catholics priests are a majority of the publicized molesters b/c they have not, nor are they supposed to have sex ever. Then they see a little altar boy that trusts them and looks up to them and they think “heres my chance”. It isnt about media bias. In fact, the catholic church is the most powerful relious group on the planet. and yes sagekid, i think catholic priests are at more risk to become molesters b/c they are males and have been deprived of sex for so long.</p>
<p>As a devout Catholic, I believe that every religion is ****ed up… ok … and don’t attack me for saying the F word, after saying i’m a devout catholic. There are child molesters in every denomination.</p>
<p>as i said catholic priest are a majority of the publicized molesters. The publicity may just be because the Church as a whole has so much influence. I have a couple of catholic friends that think that the priests that do it just lack self control. They take a vow to be celibant when they physically cannot do it. just my 2 cents</p>

I’m concerned for the little kids out there who may miss the signs… if someone is fascinated that you have smooth skin and small hands, BE WARY! well, that’s according to my friend’s little brother. now, i can’t help but think twice about priests. It’s awful that I find myself in this position.</p>
<p>My apologies to anyone who took offense from the title. I was just angry that kids’ lives (or any lives) have to be jeopardized. Btw, I know there are plenty of good priests out there. but you know, some of the allegations are just shocking sometimes, because even “good priests” are tempted to molest children. What % of priests do you think have this urge? a minority, of course, but I’m curious nonetheless.</p>
