Why can't I be like ChaosTheory and just cut off contact with everyone for months?

Or years or whatever? Like Perelman. Or Henry Cavendish, Isaac Newton, etc. The list goes on.

Sure they all talked to ppl, but they probably went on emotional autopilot and only talked to ppl cuz they needed to.

It’s not as if I need anything else. All I need is adderall/modafinil, beans and vitamins, a computer, internet, some academic stuff, and uTorrent. That’s all.

Why am I so socially dependent? Why am I so averse to loss? Why do I want others to be amused at the things I say? Why, just why? Why do I crave relationships that I’ll never get? (when most nerdy ppl my age don’t have them? [ps: my standards for “nerd” are quite high])

Haha, I’m kind of like you. I’m very social. You’ve got to talk to people, you’ve got to socialize, you’ve got to network! :P

Humans are social creatures. It is in your genetic code.

I think I would go completely insane.

wahh I know. it’s just that there are people with schizoid personality disorder who have like no drive to be social or anything. wahh why dont i have that?

I’m like that.

Must be your personality type.

I think I did this for six months. Somewhat peaceful, yet still a bit unconformable. It was bittersweet I suppose.

Odd that you would say this, since people with Asperger’s typically lack the desire to interact.

Hm, I think many Aspies have fairly normal desires to interact, although they just don’t like to interact with people in the ways that most people enjoy interacting with others. Which often leads to loneliness and such feelings.

Outside of winter, when I am in Ski Club (an EC), I rarely interact with people socially. I think it’s just a personality thing.
It is sort of sad for my friends though. Sometimes they tell me that they want to hang out with me, but I can rarely get myself to do it.

^^ or adding to my post, i guess us aspies like interaction in certain ways, but those ways are not the ways that other people are fluid in interacting in (or ways that other people would enjoy interacting in). just like aspies are not fluid in interactions in the ways “normal ppl” like interacting in. so we have a lack of desire to interact in the “normal ways”, but yet crave social interaction in the ways we like to interact in (of course much of this is wishful thinking, but occasionally it happens).

I have no desire to deal with other people.

<- a more cynical person than Holden Caulfield

crap i have a history research paper, chem research paper, chemistry olympics demonstration, and have to read the damn bell jar for this monday

I’m happy alone if I don’t see other people. The way it’s socially stigmatized to be alone is worse than actually doing stuff by myself.
