Why Do Asian Girls Prefer White Guys???

i think that all races, no matter their size are falsely stereotyped. I also think it would take more than an asian majority in california to change this. i mean, to end/change stereotypes, you would have to control the things that perpetuate the stereotypes (i.e. the media) and unless more asians involve themselves with the media industry, i think it will be hard for any stereotype to change.

At my school, it seems like at least a quarter of the honors kids are Asian. However, not very many Asians are necessarily stereotyped as science whizzes…our ASB president is Asian, and we’ve had long chats about our heritage (we do in-depth geneology projects our Junior year)…we are both fourth generation immigrants, her Chinese/Japanese, me Eastern European/German. Point being, a lot of the strongest math science kids are white girls, and some of the best writers and the co-EICs of our paper and yearbook (different people) are Asian.

Personally, I think I have subconscious ethnic preferences, but they aren’t anything I focus on. I tried to think if I had recently found an Asian guy attractive, and there is a cute guy in my English class…he’s asian, of some ethnicity or another. Personally, I’ve met a lot of hot Israeli guys. Does this mean all Israeli guys are attractive? Certainly not. So essentially, I hadn’t thought I found asian guys attractive, but I’m open to anyone who turns me on, regardless of ethnicity, origin, or accent.

I remember talking to an asian acquaintance about asian stereotypes. I pretty much told him my thoughts on it and how I thought it was so prevalant in the media, like you will only see the martial arts master, the guy owning some store/restaurant, the nerd/dork/geek, etc. He looked at me like I was crazy and said he never heard of those stereotypes before…I am like c’mon-you have never seen these stereotypes like William Hung(sp??) from American Idol? He said no and that I was perpetuating stereotypes by discussing them…

That event always struck me as strange and that maybe I was overanalyzing, but I wasn’t…

Still, I agree with the poster who said that it will take a lot to change the perception of minority groups…I mean I already have to deal with stereotypes people may hold about me like being ghetto,a hood rat, ebonics master…BET/MTV sure as heck aren’t helping.

I completely agree shaddix. I am an african american female, but i have extremely light skin and i am often mistaken for being hispanic or asian. but as soon as people find out i’m black, they automatically assume that i am from the ghetto and can recite the words to every rap song, etc…

^^^I know, it is so frickin annoying…do I expect white kids to know the words to every rock/emo/metal song-NO! When they find out I am jamaican- american the questions turn to:

-have you ever smoked marijuana?
-can you get me some marijuana?
-you know anyone who sells marijuana?
-are you a rasta?

 • do you know voodoo?

I don’t mind answering questions about the country…just not stupid questions…

wow, that’s funny b/c that is the perception that a lot of people hold about jamaicans…

in spanish class the other day, we were writing ways to say “i love school” in different languages. so of course, everyone wrote it in their respective language. and then this girl asked me if i knew “african” and could write it on the board.

that really p issed me off b/c my ancestors and i have lived in America for almost 400 years!!!

^^^african…lol!!!

That is funny…people ask me to talk jamaican…okay we do speak english…we were a british colony at one time ya know… There is a dialect, patois, but it is essentially “bad english”.

some people are just so ignorant.

interesting progression of the thread…it went from from af/wm to black stereotypes…

sorry for hijacking XD

haha this is a funny thread, because I’m filipino and all my aunt and cousins have married white guys. I don’t know why asian girls are attracted to white guys, I guess it has to do with variety maybe not. Maybe asian guys aren’t that attractive, at least to me. I’ve maybe seen one attractive asian guy in my life at my school and there are a lot of asians. Or maybe it’s because white guys are attracted to asian girls, which seems to be the case a lot.

hotpiece-- I find it so amusing because it is not as if people see me and ask me to write something in Russian…yet I have cousins who immigrated from St. Petersburg just 10 years ago. 10 years or 400, yet you get stereotyped? A very close friend of mine is Japanese-American (his mother’s grandmother immigrated). He looks vaguely Japanese, yet is very ethnocentric and into Japanese cultural activities like Taiko drumming. Yet, we are of the same “immigrant” generations who came to the U.S.

African language? There are more than 1,000 of those…and some don’t even have a word for school because of the lack of necessity.
However, this thread needs somewhat of a diversion from the fights above, so that was a needed hijack.
Given the American penchant for social classification and attribution, it is not surprising that people who are black-even those who had ancestors come over on the first Middle Passage ships-are still stereotyped, because skin color (as evidenced on this forum) is still a sore point for some and a divider for others; most of this attitude arises from said penchant.

personally i have no problem with skin color. my last boyfriend was puerto-rican and the one before that was actually asian. so it is always a little hard for me to understand how some people can be so stuck up on race.

I’m Asian and all the girls I dated were either white or black.

the day will come when america’s population will be 70% non-white, (sadly ill be dead by then), but by then we will have achieved true racial diversity. by then the it would not be possible for minorities to be excluded from positions of real power, via glass ceilings, b.s. politics and etc… because there will be just too many of us minorities for the WASP’s to suppress

*rant

it seriously ****es me off that the most famous asian male celebrity might actually be william hung (american idol, she bangs). or the miyagi dude from karate kid.

I used to love Mr. Miyagi. “Wax on, wax off.” I especially loved the Karate Kid with Hilary Swank…

oh, i love this thread.

I want my children to live in an America where there are no boxes to check on college applications for race because we are so intermarried and culturally intermingled that no one race can be a priority. Maybe this will happen for my grandchildren, but eventually, we’ll all be the same again, but hopefully in a manner of natural progression. I just watched Crash, and it hurts to think that I live in a place like this. Welcome to California, USA.

hmm it really seems like my school is becoming a minority in itself.

races are clearly defined at my school; it is very rare to see asians hanging with whites and vice versa, hispanics with asians, whites with hispanics, etc. the only exceptions to this are hookups.

There are several entrances at my high school, and the asians, hispanics, and whites all hang out at their respective entrances.

in short, it is a very segregated school, and i wish anything that it werent.

i am jealous of you all.

Xe Ln Ag A, i am jealous of ur skool, if i went there, there be no end of pranks, dirty dozens, and race riots

Yea, since race riots are so fun to participate in. It just shows how much we’ve progressed as a country.
