This is not something I have ever believed is a health issue. Are there so many people in the world who think this is something that requires attention? Apparently so!

How would you know it was dirty?

Your intestines are full of disgusting biotin-producing E. coli! You should clean it out! Plus do you really want heavy metals floating around in there?

The way I control my spam is to have a junk e-mail address. I use it every time some one asks. I never check that account.

Until I remembered that “spam” refers to junk email, I thought you meant something like, “Why do I get so much flack about cleaning my colon?” And I thought, “Oh, this is gonna be good.”

Now that you mention it, it is weird how many people are obsessed with bowel movements. Surely Freud would have something to say about it. Maybe these people were made to feel ashamed of their poopie as toddlers and still haven’t resolved the conflicts?

"I thought you meant something like, “Why do I get so much flack about cleaning my colon?” And I thought, “Oh, this is gonna be good.”

Did you think of old SNL skit where they were advertising colon spray?

Aside from all the obvious jokes I will put in a pitch here for eating less red meat. I don’t eat it at all and haven’t since 1985. I have never had to worry about cleaning my colon. If you eat properly these things take care of themselves. In my opinion…

Seems to me that, regardless of your diet, your colon will “clean” itself. Sort of a self-cleaning organ. I just don’t get the need for any intervention, under normal circumstances. Apparently, however, there’s a whole industry and an entire subset of the population that feel the need to take action.

No offense, but this is one of the most … unusual topics I have seen discussed here.

I thought this would be a thread about a new benefit of Spam, the canned meat product. :D

No offense taken, FallGirl. That’s why I started the topic – since getting email messages in my inbox about this topic – completely unsolicited, I can assure you – is mind-boggling.

Fallgirl, you must have missed this one then… ;)

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/parent-cafe/235233-bidets.html

But in positive developments, I hardly ever get spam anymore for products that will enlarge my (nonexistent) “wee-wee” (censor starred out the real word.)

Google is sharp.
Now I’m getting banner ads for colonoscopy.
Its my year for it too. I can’t wait.

I find it funny that this thread is currently right above EK’s “Too personal to talk about-money” thread. EK if you think money is personal come over here.

I see “College grants for felons” along the “Colonoscopy” ads
I’d love to see the spammers take full advantage of these grants after their release from prison :)

The best way to keep our colons “clean” is to eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables, drink an adequate amount of water, and get some exercise several times a week if not every day.

You are right that there is no need for these colon cleansing products. It’s a huge racket.

I don’t get the colon spam (I just get the guy from some far away country who wants to put millions of dollars into my checking account if I would just send him my account info.) There must be a lot of money to be made in the colon cleansing business because it seems to me that every radio station has that dumb ad about getting rid of the “spackle” in your colon.

I had never heard of colon “cleansing” until about twenty years ago when it was revealed that it was one of Diana’s (late Princess of Wales) regular practices. Perhaps that is how the industry grew. Some of the princess’ decisions were, as we know, suspect – that being one of them. Pity, really, why she couldn’t just stick to a sensible diet and content herself with the use of a bidet. Then again, she wasn’t really that keen on superficiality…hmmm.

I don’t remember that one, but I like the SNL fake advertisement for Colon Blow cereal. (“It would take over ten thousand bowls of your regular cereal to equal the amount of fiber in one bowl of Colon Blow!”)
