The info is more general than the usual chapter tests, and if you’ve been focused all year long you don’t have to freak out about them…
My friends are making review guides that are over 20 pages long. ***?!

Because they are 10% of my final grade.

Sent from my iPhone using CC

^ 20%

And I disagree that they’re “more general”

I wish finals were 10% or my final grade. That’s such a minute percentage.

I never freaked out about them in HS. There was a grading matrix. You knew what you walked in with, you knew all possibilities for what you could walk out with. If you had two A’s (for both quarters within the semester), it was virtually impossible for you to get anything other than an A. An A and B, you’re probably getting a B. Two B’s, it’s even more certain that you’re getting a B than if you had two A’s. And I never really dealt with other situations.

But now? Finals are such a big deal. One of the finals most frosh took was 40% of their grade. This is MIT, though, so if they fail (D or F), it goes down as No Record. But who wants to fail?

Exams are 20% of my grade, and I don’t freak out about them.
Almost every exam (except English) had multiple choice as the majority… Which made it a lot easier. If it was like an actual test that covered the entire year, it’d be bad. But teachers don’t want to grade, so they make most of it multiple choice. xD

LOL Finals = only graded thing for me
what is this 20% )':

For me its worth 20%
I dont really freak out much. Even if someone is at 100% and they get 50% on their finals, then they drop 10%. But most people arent at 100%, and will get higher than 50% on finals. So the drop is less than 10%. See? NBD.

People bond when they freak out together. Finals is an excuse to mutually freak out.

A slightly easier than usual test counting for 10-20% of your grade? You most definetly want to do well on it

The only reason i freak out about finals is because you have so much to study that you don’t even know what to study. well that’s the case for me at least. My teachers (except for english) don’t tell us what’s going to be on the final except that it’s going to cover anything we learned the whole year. so basically it’s like cramming a whole year’s worth in one day. Sure the topics are more broad, but what if you forgot to cover that one topic while you were studying?? then you’re screwed. at least with chapter tests you know what exactly to study. with finals, it’s just random.

Oh not to mention, it’s worth 30% of my grade. If i fail the final, my grade would drop a letter grade.

For me, each class had a different percentage for the finals.
APES - my teacher’s final is going to be VERY EASY!
Yoga - Easy
AP Eng Lang - Eh. We have to know over 120 vocab words, 25 Ap terms, and write a synthesis essay.

AP U.S History - people will present their powerpoint. My teacher says that the AP was our final
Algebra - Moderate
French - Moderate/difficult.

I am just studying for English, French, Algebra, and a little for Yoga.

LOL some schools have Yoga classes?? And they have exams?? xD

Teachers at my school deliberately make finals easier than any of the year’s tests. Everybody knows this, but no one says anything because they worry teachers will make them harder if anyone points this out.

I always do so bad on finals but idk why. They’re 20% of our grade and last year I got a C on 3 finals in classes that I was getting A’s in and they all dropped to an A-

So yeah it’s annoying

their 20% of our final grade. And depending on the teacher they can be hard

The people that freak out about finals never learned the material properly in the first place.

i don’t really care about finals nor do i really study for them. i only really have about 2 real finals anyway. they don’t count for much of my semester grade so i don’t care what i get on them.

I don’t know. I earned 100s and one 98 for my final scores without studying. As long as you paid attention, there is no reason to worry.

@kyoakyoa and @konayuki- some of my teachers put new material and the finals and others select the hardest/mostmissed questions to put on there so it can be hard. but i guess it depends on the teacher and/or school.
but the lowest exam grade i got was a 97 so I can’t really complain…

i wish i was innately good with finals as some of you are…
