even though the nazis committed horrendous crimes?

and these people aren’t not even fascists or anything - they’re just normal people who somehow admire nazis/hitler.

‘Like’ and ‘Admire’ are two vastly different things. I can admire someone who has achieved a lot - like Hitler. But I cannot like him.

I don’t like or admire Hitler. I see your point too btw, I just don’t admire him.

lol Gerontius, I see your point, but there are so many people who achieved more admirable things than Hitler, largely because they are followed by intelligent people while Hitler is followed by morons with superiority complexes

He was a great orator.

People can admire success and be impartial to morality of said success.

I think the topic of Nazi Germany is extremely interesting (I’m actually in the process of writing a 2500 word paper for my IB History IA). The reason why he is so admired is because of the way he was able to control the entire country. He dropped unemployment, brought hope to the country, turned the country a total 180, and other fantastic/incredible things. He was a very strong leader, though ruthless. His actions surpass the meaning of unethical. Even so, no one can deny that he was, in fact, a very strong leader.

I understand why he’s admired. I don’t admire him, however the way he was able to control Germany does leave me in TOTAL awe.

Admire still implies respect/high opinion.

I generally don’t admire or respect the deranged like him. Yes, he did achieve some pretty amazing things. You can certainly admire the ability to do that, or those achievements. But the person as a whole?

No.

Admire: To regard with wonder and delight; to look upon with an elevated feeling of pleasure, as something which calls out approbation, esteem, love or reverence; to estimate or prize highly; as, to admire a person of high moral worth, to admire a landscape

By that definition, I don’t admire him. I certainly recognize that he was smart (manipulative duh), but…yeah I hate him. Do people actually like him?

I imagine twisted people(serial killers,etc.) like him

^^ yes. We had German Nazis talk to our school and it’s heartbreaking hearing their support of Hitler to this day. Proof of how badly Hitler brainwashed these innocent civilians.

wth @ swim2daend’s comment

It was rly rly sad. They came to school and it was filmed county-wide. It was scary some of the things they said.

My friends and I talk about Hitler and made fun of him and imitate him. We “like” him just for the sake of black humor.

Yeah, what school invites a Nazi to speak?

swim2daend: Are you fishing?

Why are the posts being jumbled up? I posted after jerrry and swim2
Edit: WTH? It happened again!

I just don’t get how someone could brainwash an entire country into thinking that killing millions of people(taking their lives away!!! bc of their religion!) is okay :'(

I can imagine how sad

CC is having technical difficulties again.

Look at this book thing. It wa stranslated into English, but was really published in Germany.
