Why do you read?

I like to read because books hold what feels like magic at times. Any book is written by some author that I don’t know in real life but yet their words resonate through my head when I read their books. I just think that it’s cool that a person that I’ve never met will influence me in that way.

This may sound nerdy, but I believe that books, really the written word in general, possess power, the power to spread anything. One can find books on just about anything. If I want to experience something, I can probably find a book about it to show me:
If I want to be a desperate high school athlete who starts to take steroids, I read Gym Candy. If I want to be a little kid enjoying some candy, I read Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. If I want to be a determined woman in love, I read Jane Eyre. If I want to be a struggling ant, I read Empire of the Ants. If I want to go on an adventure, I read any Jules Verne book. If I want to…

See, the possiblities are nearly endless.
