Wow. I haven’t been on this forum for a while now.
During the time I was gone, I went through a midlife crisis (ikr a midlife crisis during my teenage years) and lots and lots of anxiety; i just couldn’t decide what i wanted to do when I grow up.
I’m back now, and decided that going to a top tier school isn’t something I need to do nor something that will make me happy in life.
I asked myself many questions:
why do I need to go there?
what will I get in return from attending a so-called ‘top school’?
I don’t need to go to one, and would rather do something with my life that I enjoy than stressing about extra curricular activities and classes I don’t want to take. I’ve always had a passion for acting, and started to get into it again and am slowly falling in love with it. I’ve spent months doing research about the industry, and what it takes to “make it”, and maybe one day I’ll be living up to my dream.
Am I still going to continue taking AP classes? Yes, of course.
I learned this and I hope some others learn this too, sooner or later: an Ivy League school doesn’t define success for your life. Enjoy your high school years, and do something YOU want to do- it’s pointless running track and doing debate & speech just to “fill-in gaps” on your resume.
I wish everyone luck and fortune in your lives, and most of all do what makes you happy.
Sorry for such a long post, I just wanted to give everyone an update and my view of college now.
thank you.
