I had to withdraw from Fall 2011 and sit out the following spring for medical reasons; this means to finish my last semester at UVA (this semester) I need a 9th semester of AccessUVA. But because I’m a dual major and of bureaucratic hiccups (caused by my withdrawal deleting all my SIS exceptions and substitutions for my majors), my Association Dean signed my appeal late. Now I have to wait to hear back from the appeal committee, which will probably pass, and then wait for my funds to disburse. In the meanwhile, the system is threatening to disenroll me if I don’t resolve my financial hold (caused by $16k of unpaid tuition) by January 18.

And oh because of some stupid bureaucratic rule, I couldn’t file my appeal for a 9th semester of AccessUVA during the summer or the earlier part of Fall 2012. I had to wait for my 8th semester to complete. Why is that? It seems like such a heartless rule. This is causing me so much despair and heartache.

I’ve petitioned SFS twice (including yesterday and last week) to postpone my hold until I can hear back from the committee, but I have heard nothing from them. If I am disenrolled, I don’t know what I’d do. I probably wouldn’t survive the shock.
