Will committing hurt my kid’s chances for scholarships?

Context: my kid was accepted early action (yay!) and wants to hit the commit button. The decision to attend is not dependent on scholarships but would help. We have a first year Buckeye and her scholarship came a few weeks after acceptance. We’re wondering if the new Buckeye hits the commit button now, will that diminish his chances of any scholarships…? Thanks!

It’s early action…there is no rush to commit.

If you are concerned and there is nothing to gain from committing now then wait.

I can’t answer the question but that you even asked it would make me want to wait.

Check the housing policies - that’s likely the first impact.

Good luck.

Never hit commit till May 1. Other opportunities can come up that you can’t even forsee right now.

Please hit commit a day or two before May 1. We did this one year and there was a huge computer glitch…and a LOT of worry on this end. Since then…I have suggested never to wait until the deadline date…do it a couple of days sooner.

But for the OP…no need to commit now. Your kid has pending applications, right? Wait and see what those are.

Maybe your son wants to commit now because he figures that will take UMass off the table?
