Will I get into the University of Waterloo?

I applied to the University of Waterloo last November, but I have no idea if I will get in or not. I applied as a mechanical engineering major. I believe that I meet all the requirements but I understand that that does not guarantee that I will get in. Is there anyone out there who knows if I am likely to get in or not?

My GPA is 3.5 weighted

GPA 9th grade: 3.2 unweighted

GPA 10th grade: 3.0 weighted
english honors C+, modern world history honors B, pre-calc accelerated B-, biology B-, spanish 3 B

GPA 11th grade: 3.8 weighted
english A-, calculus A, american government and economics honors B+, chemistry honors B+, physics honors A-, spanish 4 A-

SAT- 1700
reading 440, writing 580, math 680

ACT-24
reading 22, english 23. science 23, writing 22, math 32

I am a peer tutor. In 11th grade I was also a varsity cheerleader.

I have ADHD. After 10th grade I started taking medication to focus. That is why my grades went up so drastically.

12th grade classes: english, AP calculus AB, AP physics n/m, AP physics e/m, AP macroeconomics

My high school has a block schedule. The first semester is almost over. I am expecting to have a B+ or A- in english, a B of B+ in AP physics n/m, and a C+ or B- in AP macroeconomics.

You are American? Your SAT and ACT scores are below the minimum requirements as stated on the Waterloo wehsite. 26 ACT and 1100 SAT CR+M.

@TomSrOfBoston Yes I am an American. My SAT CR+M is is 1120 so it does meet the requirement. Also it says “The minimum ACT composite score is normally 26.” Does this mean that there are some exceptions? How important are standardized test scores at the University of Waterloo?

Engineering at Waterloo is probably the most selective program in Canada. B’s and C’s are likely to not cut it.

Here’s some excellent reading from Engineering admissions at Waterloo. https://profbillanderson.■■■■■■■■■■■■■/2015/10/15/chances-for-2016/ Note that a 90% in Ontario is different than a 90% at the average American school. But, I have no idea if Waterloo adjusts for that.

In Canada, admissions criteria are highly program-dependent, so while a 1100 SAT may be the stated minimum across all faculties, in reality, a competitive score in the engineering department would be much higher. The fact that you have mostly Bs in your related courses doesn’t help.
