Well…our forecast was for 6-10 inches of snow this morning. So…I cancelled a couple of things I had scheduled for tomorrow here in CT. Now they are saying 3 inches…and done by noon.
BUT almost every school and a LOT of businesses are already closing for the day tomorrow!
It only started noticeably snowing here about 30 minutes ago (north of Boston) and we are supposed to get 2-3 inches at most. Initial forecast was for 8-14". Of course, all the local schools had already cancelled by the time the forecast was adjusted this am.
We’re in PA and getting dumped on with heavy wet snow. Original totals for our area were 5-8 inches, now we might get over a foot! It was raining heavily last night at 1:30am. So much so that wondered if it would actually turn to snow. Well it did, and it’s been coming down heavily for hours. Since the forecast showed it starting as rain, they did not pre treat the roads with brine, as it would have washed away. With no brine and a drop in temperature, the snow began to stick to the roads right away, creating a travel mess. All schools are closed and we’re happy to be home.
The plow went by very early this morning…but not since. Just about everything is closed around here including a lot of retail establishments and even medical places. I think the town crew will be out at 11 or so when this is supposed to taper down.
Early yesterday afternoon Northeastern and Boston University announced that classes would be cancelled today due to the storm. I think it had more to do with this being the day after the Beanpot final. Celebration at Northeastern, not sure what they are doing at BU.
Also in northern NJ and we have a lot of heavy, wet snow and it’s coming down steadily. It looks so pretty sticking to all of the trees. D24 has a virtual school day - I miss the days of actual snow days and playing in the snow with little kids.
