Will these midyear grades ruin my chances...

I’m a white female from NY, deferred ED. My stats before senior year (lots of honors, 1 AP) were as follows:

UW GPA: 93 (3.8?)
SAT: (first try)
CR - 700
W - 800
M - 710
TOTAL = 1410/2210

My midyear report:
AP Calc BC - 85
AP Macroeconomics - 90
AP English Lit - 89
Adv Dance - 97
AP Spanish Lang - 95
AP Bio - 90

Extras I sent in after deferral:
Creative piece I did for English this year
Letter of intent to a dean of admission
Dance teacher rec - probably very good
Club advisor/Spanish teacher rec - very good
My aunt/Vanderbilt department head rec - very good (I know there are arguments against this one, but if it doesn’t help me, I can’t imagine it hurting me.)

What are my odds now with those grades? Thanks.

I’m not sure of your chances, but I really don’t think a couple Bs are going to hurt especially since it doesn’t seem like you’re slacking particularly, since your gpa is a 93 anyway. I just wanted to point out though that a 3.8 is a high A average, and 93 is a B+average…so I don’t think you have a 3.8. But I’m not absolutely positive that’s how the conversion works.

well a few B+'s definitely won’t hurt, as long as ur EC’s make up for it, also, it depends on the rigor of the class u were getting the B+ in, also it might help u look like an academic risk taker…never a bad thing

A 93 average is more like a 3.3 gpa. Those grades certainly won’t help. As a deferred applicant, you’ve already been passed over once, and when they look at you again, they’re going to want to see a more compelling reason to accept you. The drop in GPA may hurt, and the fact that your highest grade is in “advanced dance” isn’t good, either. Sorry.

At my school 89.5-93.5 is a B+ (3.5) and 93.5+ is an A (4.0). This means a 93.5 would equate to a 4.0 but a 93 would be a 3.5. I don’t know if they’ll convert it directly or just consider your average. Maybe they’ll look at all your numerical grades and find the average that way.

haha ok forget the gpa my counselor made up. i guess the 3.8 was weighted.
anyways, i kind of figured as much as cav said (although i doubt that my highest grade being in dance will hurt since that’s probably expected…)

I figure a 93 would be a 3.6 to 3.7, unless conversion factors are different for some reason.

I’m not sure, but I don’t think that they will help your chances.
