I speak fluent arabic and can write and read and stuff.I also have lived overseas in Saudia Arabia for 2 years and went to an all arabic school and really did the whole immersion thing.I was wondering whether this will help my chances of getting into Exeter my dream school
Thanks!!

thats kinda cool.
are you arabic though? Because that’s like an American speaking english or a japanese person speaking japanese :]
Exeter is a tough school;I’m saying this not to kill your hopes, but to motivate you to try harder: I would say that EVERYONE who gets in has an “UMPH” thats super special, like programming a shirt that can grow arms and paint your fingernails or something crazy like that ![]()
Sooo don’t take it for granted, and just try hard :D

its a leg up. but what really gives you a leg up is that your muslim and a girl

do you have a parent on cc? i could’ve sworn ive seen one post something similar to what you have right now =/

Ha Definetly not my parents are anything but tech savvy and they are sort of opposed to boearding school in general

yea understandable. LOL! me and my father are fighting about boarding school right now.

whoa you know arabic and only in two years? sounds like it would definitely improve your application

hotchkissjin I have known arabic for years since I was a kid. Even when I lived in America my parents were obsessed with all of their kids knowing arabic and the middle eastern culture and stuff and I was forced to go to Arabic classes three times a week plus that is the language we speak at home and in front of sales people lol. Being in Saudia Arabia and going to an Arabic school has just improved my language so i didnt start from scratch or anything

ah i see, well, being bilingual is still a great benefit!

wow im really sorry.
reading this now, my above post sounds completely pompous and stupid. My post made assumptions about Exeter that probably are not true, and its a great thing that your bilingual; I wish I could speak arabic ![]()
my apologies ![]()
good luck!

Aspirant: Awe you didnt need to apologize, you are probably right anyway Exeter is really tough. So no worries

the arabic thing is awesome!! just be sure to emphasize your experiences in your essays and interviews. :-)
