Don’t know if it is the right place to post this, but I need an answer. So in one of my scholarships, I’m one of the top finalists. After searching twitter, I found another finalist and started following her in case she had updates on the scholarship. Whenever she had a post regarding the scholarship or the brand sponsoring it, I favorite the post. Then there was one post where she said how her grants were going down while tuition was going up and asked why. Due to one of her photos showing her on the dean’s list at a specific college, I used that specific college when answering her question. Not more than 48 hours after that she blocked me on twitter. After a day or so, I dm her on instagram (I was following her already I believe) and asked her why she blocked me plus apologized for any reason she did it. She just saw the message today and hasn’t responded. I’m worried that maybe she might email the scholarship committee, say I was stalking her, and then my chances of winning the scholarship will decrease significantly. I was not stalking at all. Would she go that far? What should I do?

Easy answer. Stop doing anything with this other poster.

That shouldn’t affect you at this level of activity, but you might be understanding that someone wouldn’t want a stranger to disclose personal info about them online. It seems wise to not post to her or private message her. Usually if someone blocks you it isn’t a good idea to ask them why.

Well that does come off as a little…off-putting because you’re a complete stranger seeking her out through multiple social networks. Of course your intentions are clear & innocuous, but she doesn’t know you, so she would feel a little uncomfortable. I wouldn’t think she’d go so far as to report you because you haven’t really harrassed her incessantly (albeit I wouldn’t have asked her why she blocked you when you barely know her). I would just leave eveverything alone and if she asks who you are, just clear up the misunderstanding.

How would she know that you’re also in the competition for the scholarship?

@4kidsdad I tweeted to her that I was a finalist also when I was first searching for other finalists.

For all of your information, I haven’t tried to communicate with her at all since I first posted. I still check her Twitter though.

Oh for heavens sake…STOP checking her twitter. What’s the point? She is a stranger.
