Haha! That would easily get me back and forth to work every day.
But think of it as a 1/4 mile at a time. So one would get 148 trips +/- down the race track.
I guess if you can afford a 4 million dollar car there are prob a few more reliable options in your garage.
Still ugly but looks better
Our 2006 Outback has more repairs that the car is worth. Time to replace it. Looking to go with an EV, currently leaning towards the ID.4. It’s the right size, i don’t think my wife would like the stiff ride and tech of a model Y, and it’s noticeably cheaper than the alternatives mainly due to the fed rebate. Anyone recently driven one or compared it to the alternatives? Various rebates and dealer incentives should get the before tax price below 40K for the fully loaded AWD.
I bet the owner got tired of wiping paw prints off the steel paneling…
I didn’t think you could make it any uglier. Someone actually figured it out.
I love my ID.4! Bought it to replace my BMWX3 a couple of years ago and I like it better. Handles well, nice acceleration, love the seats and control design.
I have never seen a cybertruck hauling anything in its bed.
My DH’s cousin who lives in Seattle said that belongs to his new next door neighbor!
I wound up buying the Kia Niro PHEV. I rejected the Tesla Y because the ride was too stiff for me on our bumpy roads; I rejected the Escape when I saw the rumor it would be discontinued by Ford in the next couple years (plus reliability and other reasons). But the Kia purchase experience of 3.5 hours at the dealership even though all the terms were agreed upon days earlier made me long for a Tesla click click done buy.
Still (not actively) looking for a new car as the college kid took mine. I wish there was a good power search engine to search the models that match all sorts of specifications. For example a length of less than 15 ft but not a hatchback.
One of these pulled out behind me on my way home from the rec center yesterday and then just this morning I get an email from our neighboring Toyota dealership offering me a special on a 2024 Tesla Cyber Truck for $145,000 instead of $150,000 and to call them if interested. Too funny - snapped pic of the email and sent to husband and kids - everyone laughed - no one wants that car.
Oh my… what a deal!!
When I got the EV9, I made the Kia dealer send me all the contract and lease paperwork in advance so that when I came in all I had to do was sign. They did most of it on an iPad. Took maybe 30 minutes for the paperwork, not counting me doing a test drive of the exact vehicle I would be taking and getting a 20 minute setup orientation after the purchase.
We would be increasingly reluctant to get a plug in hybrid as if we did and were ever to move to a condo, it’s still challenging in HI to find charging spots.
Looks like no one informed the trash pandas that this is not a dumpster…
Will American give up their love affair with larger SUVs and pick up trucks?
We have to start to get back in love with smaller vehicles. It’s super important for our society and for EV adoption,” Farley stated. “We are just in love with these monster vehicles, and I love them too, but it’s a major issue with weight.”
Focus on Smaller EVs
Farley emphasized that the next generation of Ford’s EVs will not include the oversized trucks and SUVs for which the brand is known. Instead, the focus will be on more compact, cost-effective models. This move is driven by the high costs associated with producing large EVs, particularly the expensive battery packs required to achieve the extensive ranges that consumers demand.
“You have to make a radical change as an [automaker] to get to a profitable EV. The first thing we have to do is really put all of our capital toward smaller, more affordable EVs,” Farley explained. “These huge, enormous EVs are never going to make money: the battery is $50,000, even with low-nickel, LFP chemistry. They will never be affordable.”
Will Americans continue to be able to afford the larger more expensive vehicles (in general, not just EVs) that are typical now compared to a decade ago?
