Will you buy an electric or hybrid car next?

Tesla uses cameras only to detect water on the windshield. Of course, that means the small section of windshield on front of the cameras is the proxy for the entire windshield, so that water elsewhere on the windshield does not cause the automatic wiping to occur. This is particularly an issue with drizzle or occasional drops (it works when there is heavier rain).

Interesting! Thanks.

I can personally attest to the idiocy of Tesla’s “auto” wiper setting . Bright sunny day, sitting at a stoplight- sure, go ahead, swipe randomly to make me look like a weirdo. But a drizzle - nope, I have to manually activate…

What blows my mind are the reports that cybertruck wipers may go dead for 30 second periods, and drivers are to accept that.

As someone mentioned, at 60 mph, that means you have no wipers for a half mile!!!

NO, I would not accept that just to own that thing!!!

This guy gives a pretty thorough review of the CyberDumpster. Including the windshield wipers, which he could give a negative 10.

“I can’t find my wallet.” I enjoyed that video, thank you.

If folks want to “cut to the chase,” then the CyberDumpster owner says he sold it.

Typically new car and truck prices increase each year, but this gentleman bought a “Foundation Series” for $100,000+, but new CyberDumpsters are being sold for $79,990 or whatever. Under $80K to get the Federal tax credit.

On a short 15 minute drive yesterday I saw no less than 3 Teslas that had no identifying badges on them. Based on the region where I live, not surprising

I recently noticed that the person who owns one of these monstrosities in our neighborhood has had the bumper plastered with various stickers. I drove too fast past their house to be able to read what they said. I’ll keep you posted!

I suspect the production of these Dumpsters will stop soon. My husband says his car enthusiast buddy is considering buying one when the majority turn into junk and restoring it as a gas-powered V8 vehicle. Just for fun.

Except it will probably be the EV parts that are still good after everything else falls off, so wrapping the EV stuff in the body of a regular pickup with a dead ICEV drivetrain may be more likely.

Hahaha! You are so right. I suppose there might be a few relatively preserved specimens available for this project… and if the final product is not driven regularly, that could keep it from falling apart.

If used Model 3 prices drop any lower I might buy one. LOL!

To date I’ve had 2 confrontations with people locally about my Tesla. First one was while driving so I’m not sure the reason (but maybe just anti-Musk sentiment) and the second one was cause of a bumper sticker that I added with my political view—luckily in daylight with people around. I’ll replace that one but I don’t necessarily feel safe in it anymore.

(For the record, I bought for the environment and for dog mode, and it is an absolute joy to (self) drive.. yet I would trade if I wouldn’t lose so much on it.)

My friend and neighbor recently replaced his Tesla Model S with a Tesla Model 3.

He said he paid $39,000. But I see 2-3 year old low mileage standard and long range Tesla Model 3’s with asking prices in the low $20K’s. Older Model 3’s with higher mileage in the mid-teens.

My model 3 is low mileage. It’s almost 7 years old. It costs me almost nothing to drive, other than the little electricity, insurance and tires. I read that the company has asked Musk to step down. That would be a gift.

Just saw that a purchase of a Lexus BEV included a certain number of free rental days of a gas Lexus over the first 3 years of ownership. For those rare occasions when you have travel to some wilderness with a gas can in the trunk…

The Lexus RZ and related Toyota bZ4X and Subaru Solterra are not the fastest at fast charging, so they may not be the optimal road trip vehicles, even among EVs. Though supposedly they are making changes to improve fast charging speed soon.

For best efficiency and range in the Lexus RZ, choose the 2WD with 18" wheels.
