Will you buy the iPhone 4s?

I know many think the 4s is a big disappointment and were expecting an iPhone 5 instead. I for one will be getting the new phone as I still have the iPhone 3G; while not the first iPhone, it is still old. Apple no longer supports the 3G, so no updates for this phone anymore. My current phone works, but could be better, so I am ordering the new one online Friday; I don’t want it bad enough to stand in line at the Apple store on the 14th  According to Apple, those that pre order should actually receive theirs in the mail on the 14th. I don’t care if it comes weeks later; as long as I don’t have to stand in line, I a willing to wait.

What will you do?

nope- we just bought the 4th gen last week, while it doesn’t have the battery life of the 4s, wanted to use Verizons rebate & many of the features of the 4s won’t be available on Verizon anyway.

H is considering the 4s, since he’s due for an upgrade. We’re Verizon customers - which features won’t it have?

* many* features isn’t really accurate :o but not being able to talk & use the internet is a big one, as is slower network.

The higher quality of the camera has me considering it, even though I have a perfectly good iPhone 4. I use the camera on that all the time, both for stills and for video.

DH is buying it, but that’s because he’s been waiting for months since his old phone is slowly dying at age 2 1/2 years.

I have the iphone 3G and am overdue for an upgrade. I still love the phone, but in recent months, it has been very very slow to load applications. So I’m getting the new one, will order it online and wait for it to come. I don’t have to be the first one on my block to get one. I alsocdon’t care that it isn’t an iphone 5 - whatever that will be. I’m happy to get a speedier phone and I’ll enjoy the new features.

Yes. I have the 3G and the battery drains so quickly it drives me crazy. Like others above, I’m not going to stand online for it though.

This article has lots of good food for thought for the current iPhone owners who are thinking about going with the 4S:

Yes, yes, yes! I don’t currently have a smart phone; I dropped my phone a few months ago and have been using one of the girls old phones. I was eligible for an upgrade on August 1st but have been waiting for the Apple announcement. I will preordering on Friday at the earliest time possible.

I have the 4 and won’t upgrade now. I will load the new iOS. I’m usually an “early adopter”, but my 4 is still fine.

Considering both H and I have Blackberries that keep freezing and we can’t open emails, we will be getting the new iPhone as along as the Verizon price is right. I honestly think I can survive with the old one (iphone4) but it will depend on the price diff if I go to the 4s

I just read that Steve Jobs died today.

^^yes; check out the Apple website home page

For those that have the existing 4G, the 4S software will be available as a free update downloaded through ITunes. That will give you the vast bulk of the 4S software features. I think the only thing missing will be the new voice control features. Other than that, I think all you will be missing are the dual antenna and the improved camera. I rarely have dropped calls with my existing 4G on Verizon, so the dual antenna is meaningless for me.

Sorry, I won’t be buying any iPhone. I just entered the world of smartphones by recently purchasing an Android. For my purposes the features of Apple product doesn’t justify the significant extra purchase price.

My roommate is getting the new one – and giving me her old one! It’s a big step up from my ancient Blackberry flip phone. 2008, here I come. :)

For those ordering the phone online, are you ordering through Apple or your cell phone provider? I went into the AT&T store today and asked if if mattered where I ordered from, and the sales person said no. My thought is Apple would be better at getting the phones shipped out, but maybe even those ordered from the cell phone companies end up coming from the same warehouse. While I am not in a rush for the phone, I am excited about having a new phone; having it arrive sooner, rather than later, would be terrific!

Apple plans on the pre order phones to arrive on Friday the 14th, although it might be as late as Monday the 17th. AT&T doesn’t think the lines will be long due to the fact that not as many people will be buying since it isn’t truly a new model, and there are 3 cell phone companies carrying the phone. That said, I still don’t want to stand in line waiting for my turn to get to a representative, then wait for them to punch buttons for 30 minutes. Waiting for the deliveryman to drop it at my door sound less painful :)

Will you buy the iPhone 4s?

I plan to wait until the Amazon/Apple join venture combines the KINDLE with the iPhone 4S to produce the iPhone 4sKIN. :D

H went to the AT&T store and they told him he could only order 1 phone. I guess we will do his at AT&T and mine at Apple.com. Does anyone know if Apple has a limit?

If you have different phone numbers, I am surprised their is a limit. Are you on a family plan? Maybe it is just one per plan, although I haven’t seem that anywhere.
