Has anyone heard back about 1693 scholars?
Do you know if all admitted students will receive a cypher postcard? Thanks!
@2020Collegecat definitely not! I was reading a blog post from a couple years ago about the ciphers and it just means your application was read pretty early and was very strong. People with strong applications that happen to be read later might not receive a cipher so you could definitely still get in without a cipher! I think maybe 25% of admitted students receive ciphers?
@2020Collegecat
FYI, DS googled and found this blog from WM, I guess it is the same one @rborland was talking about. https://wmblogs.wm.edu/admiss/whats-deal-wm-postcard/
Time is passing. Starting now, in past years, WM sent out postcards to likely acceptances (appx 25% of acceptances). Anyone receive one this year? (Don’t know if WM is sending them out this year).
Hello, our daughter is OOS RD, we just received the postcard today! So just wanted to respond that WM does seem to be sending them out this year too. Best wishes!
@pcefulman Great! What state?
A few people in another thread mentioned receiving them recently. They don’t get sent out all at once by any means.
My daughter received the Cypher Postcard on Saturday. Very exciting!
I’m a little disappointed because I read that deferred students are reviewed at the end and cannot be given cyphers. Don’t know if that’s a good or bad thing.
@bh8690 Thank you. We are in California.
Perhaps CCers can post applicant’s state when mentioning postcard, that way we can get track which ACs are sending out postcards.
When does the admissions team stop sending cyphers?
Has anyone from PA received a cypher?
@bh8960 I heard that the cyphers are sent out based on when they read your application. I don’t think they do it by state, but by whatever strong candidate gets their application read first.
@htsardi Not going to second guess the process, however if a certain state is getting multiple cyphers at the same time, it would imply that that particular AC is actively reviewing and recommending applicants. Is what is. Good luck to all.
Has anyone received notifications from 1693 scholars?
@KeepCalmBeHappy I received one on 2/1/20, from PA
The very last go out the last week of February – so if you haven’t gotten one by the first week of March, you’ll have to wait until April.
My child received her cypher card today. I think they mail them in a batch each Friday. So this next round will arrive in the early days this week. GL to all. We are very happy and excited in our house.
