waitlisted…i’m actually so confused i just got waitlisted at cmu as well (which has a wl rate of like 8-10%). i’m also in-state so this is really making me scared for my chances at the rest of my reach schools

There is a pathway for spring admission if WM ends up the top choice. And they did take 136 off the waitlist last year.

what are your stats if you don’t mind? I’m trying to figure out if this is bc of my gpa (which is admittedly the weakest part of my application, but in that case i shouldnt have even gotten wl at cmu which is decidedly more selective) or something else

Waitlisted. She is crying. It’s hard. She applied to 7 schools and got into 6 - and they weren’t joke schools but this was her highest reach. Do they ever reject? Can I at least give her that?

If she really wants WM, look into the spring admit pathway

I’m so so sorry to hear that! They definitely do reject, and with the wait-list she does have the option of spring admit.

my school has it So only my weighted GPA on a 4.0 scale is submitted, which was a 4.59, but I had some good extra curriculars and lots of community service, no test scores, been waitlisted to a lot of schools now

i’m so sorry :frowning: she should submit a LOCI—they really love demonstrated interest and that can help her cahnces on getting off the waitlist

There were approximately 8000 rejections last year, so they definitely reject.

that’s insane your gpa is really good idk why you were wl–mine is a 4.3(weighted) so it makes more sense

All merit awards have been given. WM gives very little merit.

That’s what I figured. Probably not an option for us without aid of some kind.

3.9/4.6 UW/W; 34 ACT; 9 Hard AP and DE with all A’s and 4 or 5 test scores. Team captains for 2 varsity sports and state champs. Small business owner, ton s of EC and volunteers. WL. Makes no senses. OOS applied business school. Did not think W&M’s business school is that competitive. Puzzled.

oh wow this is actually wild–might be yield protection? A lot of high stats + good EC’s on reddit are also getting WL
