Here is a Williams Record article with the ED admissions results, the Dean of Admissions notes that they expect 12,000 to 15,000 applications for RD which is in line with prior years (ED apps were up this year):

Also, for those writing last minute apps, consider customizing your common app essay to emphasize your multi-displinary approach to learning, here’s a recent NYT article on a study that shows that those that explore different areas of study, as well as late bloomers, win Nobel prizes, it captures the liberal arts ethos:

Good luck to who applied by the Jan 5 deadline, several schools like Columbia have granted extensions to January 15 or later. Last years deadline was Jan 6 but I recall that Jan 15 was the deadline a few years ago.

Rumors that March 20 is RD release date but I haven’t seen this confirmed anywhere. Has anyone seen this?

They posted on their Instagram that March 20th would be the release date!

Recent news on Frosch housing:

Flood closes Fayerweather, displacing entries – The Williams Record

Not sure how this will impact class size for the entering class as it will reduce dorm capacity.

Here is the latest in the housing situation, freshmen entries will be in West and Brooks next year, in addition to the Frosh quad and Berkshire quad.

D26 was wait listed at Williams. It looks like we have to let them know whether we want to be on the active wait list by May 1st and normally 30 students get in via that way. I wish they would let people know where they fall on the list so we know whether there’s an actual chance or not. I guess we will wait and see!

Child with close to perfect stats. All the ECs - leadership and volunteer hours. Varsity sports. Not sure what else he could have done.

Yep, mine had 4.0 UW and 1550/35. It is what it is.

Nothing. Williams has so many incredibly qualified applicants and a very small number of spaces. I am sure he is an exceptional person and will wind up someone wonderful.

Agreed, another very competitive round for all of the NESCACs, but know that the “shaping” of the class creates very random outcomes where your application enters the EC lottery. Also, will be interesting to see whether schools like Williams remain test optional while all of the Ivies other than Columbia require testing.

Our D26’s waitlist letter said almost 17k applicants for 560 spots.
