Winter 2013 Transfer Thread

Haha oh that’s reassuring…

@UofPitt I think I suggested you call U-M about a month ago. It is rolling. Most people get their decisions within 6 weeks. I would definitely call them to see what is going on.

I’m a relatively new member, so I think it was someone else you told. I thought for sure they were no longer rolling, but I will call.

Sorry, let me put it this way. I think you’re a strong borderline candidate so you’re only not going to get in if the applicant pool is unusually strong. I’ll be honest, I spoke to an admissions officer in the fall of 2011 and let her look at my transcript. She told me candidly that I was borderline and depending on the applicant pool I might or might not get in. Of course with CC I found out quite a bit more about the other applicants and looking at everyone who was admitted, I found that I was not nearly the weakest admit. Therefore, I drew the conclusion that you are considered borderline but you are among the stronger of those applicants and have a good chance of getting in.

It’s tough to predict, so I’ll just hope for the best. I’ll give them a call tomorrow, thanks.

@Matisyahu: Where did that “View Decision” appear on WA? Is it under “Admission” and near " application status"?

@Dreamingowl Application status
@UofPitt I’m sorry, I think it was probably one of the engineering guys who have not received their Wolverine Access information. But yes, you should definitely call.

Well the conclusion is I would not be able to present this as a possible birthday gift for my mum’s birthday, BUT probably for Thanksgiving.

@Dreamingowl you have to have hope Dreamingowl.

@Matisyahu: Thank you. I HOPE I would be fine.

@Dreamingowl how long have you lived in the U.S?

@Matisyahu: Since I began undergraduate as a freshman. Two years.

I wonder where D4wnzz is?

I called admissions and they said that even though my application was completed in July, they don’t start a thorough review of applications until it gets closer to the deadline. I was told to give it more time since there is no particular order in which applications are reviewed.

Wow, the reviewing process seems to be so arbitrary and random…

When I applied to transfer for fall 2012, I completed my application around January 20th, and heard back February 22nd. So yeah, who knows.

@Dreamingowl: Exactly. That’s what’s so frustrating about it. There’s no order to it.

When I finished violin class with my professor, I asked him:
“What do you do when you are waiting for something?”
“What do you mean by waiting?”
“Well I mean I am waiting for UMich and that’s so excruciating.”
“No it’s not excruciating it’s the same life. Believe in me that life is so short and you gonna leave soon. Guess what, if you think your life now is excruciating, what it would turn to be?”
“Um…Then I feel my life goes so slowly.”
“No, it IS excruciating, which actually should not be. It is YOU who makes your life excruciating not U-M or whatever. You should make your everyday life happy and enjoyful, just like it used to be.”

@UofPitt wow 3 months is really a huge waiting period man.
@Dreamingowl wow that was a a good speech your violin teacher.

Yeah that’s some great advice. I just wish that advice was easier to follow for me personally haha.

And really, 3 months is brutal. I’d be beside myself. UofPitt, you should get in simply for your patience.
