Winter 2013 Transfer Thread

Matisyahu…Haha well…I’m a girl. But yes, 3 months is a long time.

redsdave03…It’s tough to be patient when I see that others are getting in, but I have no choice. Plus I’m so busy with school, so that helps.

@UofPitt sorry about the gender confusion. So what did they say exactly when you called?

@redsdave03 lol yeah she should get in for showing patience and dedication.

@Matisyahu…No worries. I explained to her that I applied for fall 2012 and after getting denied, had my application carried over for winter 2013. I then explained that my application was completed in July. She asked for my UM ID number, and then told me to give it more time since they don’t have a particular order of doing things. She said there is a lot of “traffic” due to the applications that were received close to October 1st.

@UofPitt I hope you get accepted soon. Maybe this will help you get accepted sooner (Me and albo23 watched this and we got accepted soon after:

Haha thank you

I feel as an outsider to see othe people’s troubles, difficulties, or lifes, it is easier to be more clear and calm about what they might “should” do or “better” do, but as an insider who is operating, facing, dealing with his or her own world and future, it’s not very easy to be sober, follow the “truth” in those inspirational books and make choices for some big things in life.

@Matisyahu: I really like your link on Youtube. There are Part 2 after Part 1 of that.

@Dreamingowl yeah they are great videos. XD glad you liked them. Hopefully they will help you get accepted.

Guys what is a Uniquename? When can we make one?

@Matisyahu - A uniquename is what your email address is going to be (i.e. @umich.edu), and it allows you to utilize the other parts of WA. Once you pay the deposit, you should receive an email detailing how to set it up. I got mine the day after I paid the deposit.

After you pay your enrollment deposit, you should get an email with a link to set it up.

@megagamerexe and albo23 thank you XD.

My friend messaged me yesterday: “Sometimes life is like that, the reward is not the same as the effort you had put on, but there have been so much invaluable wealth you have gained beyond the basic outcome : you determination, you perseverance and fortitude.”
But I just really hope there could be something as a “milestone” ending so many experiences and memories I have made, so that I can look ahead more faithfully into a broader future.

Guys what is a preferred name? What kind of stuff does the preferred name apply to?

Are there any academic GPA honors at U-M? For instance, a GPA of 3.25+ in my college is Dean List, GPA of 3.7+ is Honor List. In my college class, about 75/634 students have the GPA above 3.7, and a GPA of 3.5+ is about 130/634. How about U-M? Besides, does anyone know the average cumulative GPA at U-M?

Hey did any of you guys receive an extra letter in your acceptance packet? Something about admission concerns for not completing the foreign language requirement?

@Matisyahu - No I didn’t. I still need to complete the requirement myself. I took Chinese from middle school up through high school, and I’d really like to at least place out of one year of it. Chinese isn’t listed as one of the language placement exams you can take at orientation though.

@megagamerexe hmm I got a letter saying that U-M requires 4 semesters of foreign language, and that I have not made any progress. I am taking Spanish 1 though. Also when do we see which of our credits will transfer?

@Matisyahu - I misread your question. I’m not sure if I got a letter in the acceptance packet regarding foreign language. The packet was sent home, and I’m up at MSU. My family did open the packet up and send me pictures of the documents. I didn’t see a pic of that form, but they could have missed it. I thought you were talking about you receiving an email about it. As for the credits, we probably have to wait a bit longer for that form. We still have to send U-M our final transcripts from our respective universities, so they can see all of out transferable credits. Every source that I’ve seen says we should start to receive emails about all of this stuff (orientation, housing, etc.) in our U-M email accounts in November. That’s really soon!!! I’m excited! :)

@megagamerexe Alright XD. I better call them about it.

Did anyone receive their financial aid package yet or any financial aid on Wolverine Access?
