@lulu32 I applied this semester as a first semester freshman with 10 (incomplete) credit hours. Everyone told me that I didn’t have a prayer because junior transfers allegedly have priority over underclassmen. Anything is possible. While I did get in for undergrad last year, I still think it’s worth trying. As UofPitt said, Michigan is unpredictable.

To give you an idea, here are my high school stats:
3.7 GPA (unweighted)
5.5 GPA (weighted)
32 ACT
10 AP classes
Minimal extra-curriculars
Pretty good essays (in my opinion)

College stats:
10 credits (in progress)
N/A GPA

Given how UofPitt did in high school, I would have thought they would be a shoe-in at Michigan. For whatever reason, Michigan didn’t accept. I’ve heard similar stories of people who I thought had no shot getting in. It’s very arbitrary. I think if attending Michigan is a dream of yours, there’s no reason you can’t achieve it. Apply now. If you don’t get in, apply every semester until they accept you. In the meantime, concentrate on getting good grades. If you keep your goal of getting into Michigan in mind, I assure you that the grades will be there. If you want something bad enough, you can get it. That’s true. I say it’s worth a shot.

@lulu32…I don’t think it was my essays. I always thought I was a pretty strong writer. I even had a couple of my english teachers look over them…but who knows. And I applied for early action.

Like I said, there’s really no way to predict what the outcome will be. My best friend’s roommate got in with a 23…so it’s definitely possible.

@Matisyahu - I have a couple of friends who have singles in Stockwell. The singles are a tad small, but it is a really nice hall to live in. Very nice location too.

@megagamerexe hey thanks. Did you choose your roommate? I’m a junior though, and I don’t want to live with all sophomores…is there anyway I can ask for a single in a different hall?

@Matisyahu - I didn’t pick my roommates. All of my friends at U-M don’t have extra space in their rooms. I don’t know if you can choose a different room. I’d talk to housing.
